  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
We have no idea what deals are on the table, so trying to determine if Danny is going to "blow it up" or not is completely hypothetical and pointless
The point is to think about a positive future as opposed to the bleak present
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

He'll make a move, but all this blow up talk is unlikely in my opinion.  Ainge wants to use the 31 mill he's gonna get from Ray and KG coming off so I don't see them going, and Pierce has a contract that I think will pretty much guarantee that he retires a Celtic.

unless he can somehow use them to acquire younger talent (probably through picks). The FA market is gonna be slim this off season anyway...

He's going to make a move but it doesn't have to be the core four. Someone suggested Dooling + JO for Biedrins and a first and I quite like that.

That doesn't sound plausible.  I think the first round pick would have to be going from Boston to Golden State.  I think it was confirmed that Golden State turned down a Biedrins for Hashem Thabeet and Jordan Hill trade.

They did? That's too bad. The whole premise of that trade is the terrible contract Biedrins has.

Reckon they'll do it without the pick? I know I would.

I don't think they do it without the pick.  They might say no to a lottery-protected first round pick because they think they can get more.  Honestly, if you want Biedrins, you might have a better chance waiting for the off-season and trading a pick to Golden State when they want to clear cap space.

Remember, this is the team that chose to amnesty Charlie Bell instead of Biedrins while at the same time waiving Jeremy Lin and his unguaranteed contract in order to create cap space to sign DeAndre Jordan to an offer sheet (that was matched by the Clippers).

I dont see Danny blowing it up... I mean really, the only tradeable piece we have would be Rondo, but I dont see any situation in which trading him makes us better somewhere else. I could see us working on some minor moves but Danny made a plan to have that cap space.... he isnt going to wreck his chances in the free agency market this summer.

Well I'm jumping at the chance of getting a working center wherever possible because right now, JO is not only a non-factor for most of the time but a serious liability when he's fatigued. With a center, this team might look like it could semi-contend. Who knows.

Biedrins looks to be, at best, a mild upgrade.  I don't think that's a good enough reason to take on that contract.

I think this might the exact team we see ay the year.

Danny isn't trading his assets before the trade line to make frustrated fans happy. Immediate change isn't always good.

If Danny can't get young players and picks for Ray and KG, they aren't going anywhere because their cap space is a much more valuable long term asset to the team than mediocre talent on long term contracts.

If Danny isn't getting expiring talents and lots of picks for Pierce, he isn't going anywhere because he is still a viable NBA asset and because they can amnesty him and get $16 million more in cap space.

If Danny can't get another NBA star for Rondo, he's not going anywhere.

So everyone else is discardable but is trading them going to really get the Celtics anywhere?

This team is, IMHO, more likely to look exactly the same at the end of the year as it does now than to look completely different.

The most tradeable piece is probably Mickael Pietrus because a team over the salary cap should be able to take on his minimum salary with no problem.  If were Danny Ainge and decided to blow up the team, the first thing I do is find out if the Bulls would like Pietrus for a late first-round pick (I don't think they would trade Jimmy Butler), then find out who is willing to pay more.

The next person to go would be Brandon Bass (if healthy).
