Absolutely. This piece is a time machine.

Talent-wise I do believe we are a rebounding center away from being the 3rd best team in the East.  With that piece, my feeling would be a last hurrah run would be worth getting excited about.  But, in all likelhood, Danny is thinking beyond this year and mapping out his strategy.  I trust he'll know a lot better than I would whether to start disbanding now or plan for 2012 draft/FA to get the rebuild underway.

Sure.  It is hard to judge them when their two best big men are out.

our problem lies in the offense...we currently are the #1 defensive team..but what good is it when you cant score on the other end?? barely being able to put up 70PPG on the NBA level is bad..and Pierce(our only iso player) has lost a step

having someone who can create their own offense would help us alot...right now thats only Rondo...and sometimes Pierce

Okay...a bailout guy for the 4th quarter would probably help.

If we stick with the refrain that the team needs a starting center and a bailout guy, it would be convenient if that were the same person, however unlikely.

Al Jefferson?  It would take JO, Bass, and Dooling to match salaries, most likely, and probably a pick to match talent, perhaps with some cash for an immediate buyout or waiving of Dooling.

So the big rotation would be

KG
Big Al
Wilcox  (these 3 get most minutes)

But we'd need minutes on a regular basis from Steimsma and/or JJJ.  It's possible, I think, with Wilcox backing up both big spots.

Wow.  That would really do it, IMO...at least give us a shot this year (perhaps).

I wouldn't mind going forward with Rondo, JGreen, and Jefferson as the "veterans," and keep developing the kids (Bradley, Moore, JJJ) next to those three, plus Pierce in the role of The Godfather.

I'd like see Pierce as 6th man next year, frankly, even if it means someone like OJ Mayo starts.

Rondo
Mayo
JGreen
Wilcox
Al Jefferson

Bench:

Pierce, Bradley, JJJ, Steimsma, Moore, plus the new pick(s).

Right now, I feel like this team is my lifetime away. If I have to wait until 2026 to win the 18th championship, I might be a leprecahn in the rafters. That is a depressing thought.

Yes -- but I don't think that piece is coming.

I still believe in this team as it's currently constituted.

SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas

We lost that piece in the preseason to a heart issue, but it's questionable whether he would even have us contending.

Crazy how good KG's defense has gotten compared to the start of the season as we've melted down without him on that end.

No, I think this team's championship days are behind them.  If the off-season had gone perfectly -- CP3 and/or healthy Green + David West -- I'd like our chances, but right now the team seems old and broken.

I think we would still have a chance in a playoff series against any team other than the Heat, Bulls, or Thunder.  However, to close the gap with those teams, we'd need more help than we can realistically acquire.

I still think we're 1 piece away. That piece just so happens to be a legitimate defensive center who can help anchor the defense. You're not gonna find that guy in trade that doesn't mortgage the future or hurt the core.

I think it's offense/rebounding that we need from our center more than defense (not that it helps: the only think more expensive than a defensive anchor is an offensive threat).

This team has been very good defensively when KG's been healthy.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Only if that 'piece' is Michael Jordan in his prime.
