Next year after re-signing Mayo, Jeff Green.
Make a run at Dwight or another center in FA.

C FA, Milicic
PF Williams, Wilcox
SF Green, Pietrus
SG Mayo, Moore
PG Rondo, Bradley

T. Wolves get a proven player in Pierce to push them over the top.
Memphis gets more depth in the frontcourt for this year with Arthur out and Randolph coming back from injury (Bass, like Mayo, could be off the books after this year plus they have a surplus of guards with Allen, Sam Young, Ellington from this trade)
Celtics get two promising young players to build around.

Boston does this in a nanosecond.  Williams was the #2 pick last year.

Memphis is already loaded up at the 4, they don't need another PF.

  • Rondo = Good
Interesting.

I think Pierce is a little bit old to be the piece Minnie is looking for to be competitive, though.

If we're gonna trade with Memphis, this is the only trade I'm interested in.

Give up less, get back less.
I'd even throw in a future 1st (or one of our two this year to Memphis) to get it done.

This trade actually makes sense for this year in addition to the future.

Funny thing is, I was never one of those "TA faithful".  My affinity for TA was as wishy-washy as his play.  Although I will say "at least I'm not Otis" letting TA go just as he was finally coming into his own, was foolish.

I actually think this would be a good trade for all parties involved.

Disagree. Mayo is much more versatile. Plus, Milicic/Randolph in the Center rotation would be an upgrade over JO's corpse.

I stand by my statement.

Heck TA alone is better than Mayo.

If the Grizzlies want to keep their starters together and use OJ Mayo to acquire someone off the bench who fits with that core, what kind of player do they need and can the Celtics provide that?

That's also about how quick MEM rejects this trade.  Bass for Mayo?
