Throw the a first if you have to. I think Beasley is walking from the Twolves anyway he's just a chip that helps land Pierce.

We rent Beasley for one year to see if Doc has any affect, and we have a stud to develop plus a key reserve in JJ.

Twolves get the better end of the trade here, and they could be really interesting with Pierce for the next three years.

The Celts get what they need too, younger more athletic, and with a solid Barea and a wildcard in Beasley would you do it from our end.

Although Pierce is head and shoulders best player, I can't see wolves doing this trade simply because of a ageism.

For the celtics those 3 wouldn't make a difference on the team. Years of mediocrity ensues. stuck in no man land like the Blazers.

Minnesota might actually do this because I think Pierce ensures them a playoff birth this year and gives them that go to scorer with the game on the line (Something they lack).  If Minnesota holds pat, they still might make the playoffs but they don't have anyone on that team with playoff experience and they lack a go to scorer which is generally critical in the playoffs.

I'd probably do that as Boston as well just to get Williams.  I'd probably even take back Ridnour instead of Barea if that was required.  Beasley is on his way out in Minnesota, but he clearly has raw talent so he is worth a flyer (I'd rather have Webster though if that was an option).

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Minnesota doesn't even pick up the phone even with the first rounder thrown in.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Not sore why you guys are so interested in taking up cap space for the foreseeable future, all to become a little better than mediocre?

Either you go big (Howard, another all star, via trade or free agency, which seems unlikely) or you clean house and play the lottery(pick).

Do we really want to become the perennial 8th seed with mediocre draft picks, zero cap space, and no chance to win? I don't.

how exactly does that take up cap space.  Pierce makes 16.8 million next year, Williams and Barea are right about 9.5 million and Beasley expires this summer.  That trade actually creates over 7 million in cap space if you let Beasley walk and it provides a recent top 2 pick in the draft to the team.

I doubt minny would do that , but if you add Ray.....

Bos sends: PP, Ray, Stiemsma
Min sends: Beasley, Williams,Webster, Pekovic, future 1st

Beasley is expiring so the C's would have 16 mil in salary between Williams,Webster and Pekovic for the 2012 season. So it actually wouldn't hurt the cap situation at all because PP would be making 16 mil for the next 3 years . Pekovic and Webster expire after next season so Williams would be the only one the c's would have signed long term, but he is on a rookie contract so make 4 mil per for 4 years.

I actually really like a deal like this if I am Danny, gets us a young potential future all-star in Williams. Get a very solid up an coming young center, don't sleep on Pekovic he reminds me a lot of a young Gortat and is averaging 12ppg and 7 rebs on 61% shooting in only 23 mins per game .

For Minny , you immediately become a threat out west . You now have veteran leaders and go to scorers on the perimeter to put along with your stud young PG and Center, and you don't completely deplete your team doing it . Though they do have to give up some very good young talent in Williams and Pekovic

Min wouldnt do that trade, I doubt they would give Williams Beasley and Peka. Let alone add in Barea or Rid. I could almost see them trying to chuck in Darko instead of Pekovic if they were going to do it. But if they do that, i guess Randolph could take the minutes when Love rests. and then have Pekovic/love/steimsma rotate in the C if they really need it.

If Beasley did come to Boston im not sure how well he would go, the guy is talented ill give him that, but he lacks the drive and i think he has a bit of an ego.

In saying this though and the trade of say beasley/Williams/Milicic goes through and we re sign Jeff Green if he is healthy and assuming KG retires along with JO (cant see him playing another year) our line up would be

Rondo/bradely/dooling?
?/Pietrus/Moore?
Green/Beasley/?
Bass/Williams/JJJ?
Milicic/?/?

Does this seem right? Not sure whether we will move Bass or he will move on himself. I could see Pietrus staying in Boston possibly. But getting rid of Ray means we dont really have a solid starting 2G unless we pick up someone in the draft depending on where we finish.

Eh, I think MN would be more interested than you think. The question is 1) whether Allen and especially Pierce would even go for it and 2) How much Pierce has left in the tank.

Some version of that trade is probably more realistic than you all think.

Id hate seeing the cap go, but that team does look alright on paper, its young and athletic. Rondo would be the vet from boston which is almost a scary thought. could have some scary assists and fast breaks though.

Maybe depending on how Wilcox plays for the rest of the season you could keep him as a back up C for a minimum ammount

not with Pekovic.  Not a chance.  You don't give up a 17/11 young center for two 35 year old wings.
