Dwight Howard to OKC?

Without any shred of belief or evidence that the parties are speaking, there is one Dwight Howard trade more logical than others in my opinion.  Starting with the assumption that Howard has to be traded, why not to OKC for Westbrook and Perkins (yes, it works with Cole Aldrich as a throwin).

For Orlando, they get a young star to build around and a solid defensive center.  Both are signed for the long term.  For OKC, they solve the fact they are only a jump shooting team by gaining  interior scoring.  OKC also has Maynor, who played well in last year's playoffs, to step into Westbrook's role next year (when healthy).

Seems like a win for both teams.  Potential problem - will Dwight agree?  Any thoughts?

The next best trade for Dwight may be LAL, which I would hate.  Bynum plus salary cap relief is also a good deal for Orlando.

orlando may try & be greedy & ask for harden as well , but if they take a westbrook/dwight swap okc has to pull thr trigger

The reason this isn't being rumored is two fold. 

First, I think it is the assumption of the media that Howard would rather stick a flaming fork in his eye than agree to spend the next 5+ years in Oklahoma City, when he could be in NY, LA, or Orlando.  Whether this is the case or not, these are the types of assumptions the media is working with as they make up "rumors".

Second, would Orlando really take back Perk's salary in a deal like that?  Westbrook is a nice haul, but Perkin's contract takes away some of the value there.

Personally, I think Orlando should just trade Howard right now to Minnesota for a handful of garbage, tank the rest of the season, and then rejoice in the number 1 overall pick as Stern's thank you for sending a message that players will not be allowed to force trades in their walk years, in order to get the full extension, rather than signing for the lower amount as a free agent.

interesting idea. while westbrook is good, i dont think okc would trade after giving him that big deal. it leaves them a big hole at the pg spot. if i was them i'd try to get some sort of deal focusing on harden/ibaka (maybe a 3rd team comes into the mix to make it all work out?). westbrook/durant/howard would be nuts.

The problem I hear is that Westbrook's game does not work well with Durant.  Moving Westbrook and Perkins for Howard solves two of OKC's problems, and they have Maynor who played well at PG for them in last year's playoffs (going forward, he is hurt this year).  Other PGs may shake themselves free also next year (Nash, for example).

OKC ..is one of few teams with enough good players to keep their best and still pull off a trade for DH.

I think the HANDS down best trade orlando could get is to Trade DH to Miami for D. WADE  or Boshe

There is probally a NO TRADE clause ( like Kobe  has) , in the WADES, LBJ and Boshes deal too

or else  Pat Riley would have traded WADE off for DH  long ago.

Then there is the Celtics with NOBODY but Rondo......

Celtics are the poor kids on the block.
