trade
rondo to phili for Holiday, Nocioni, and 2012 first likely 20s

trade 2 of our 3 1st rd picks and Avery to trade up to get Austin Rivers

27 mill cap space sign R Anderson 7.5mill, O Asik 8 mill, and J Green 6 mill (or Batum 8mill). leaves 5.5 to round out team. (5.5 to mayo if no rivers). If mayo is not needed Jonny Flynn for 4mill. Sign everyone except for green to 3-4 year deals.

Use 3rd pick on a big man, 2nd round move up for pf D Green or pg/sg D Liliard)

pg Holiday, Flynn
sg Rivers, moore
sf Pierce, J Green
pf Anderson, JJJ, (D Green)
c  Asik,Steimsma,rookie (melo, R jackson,etc)

Then the next year Nocioni and Pierce will come off the books leaving us $$ to fill the SF spot. T Evans (will eventually start playing SF),D Deroza, or E turner would be possible options

With this team 2013 will not be a great year however with good player development we would have a nice silver lining. This group would grow into a well rounded TEAM and pierce would get to lead a young group and then retire a Celtic. Every starter on this team could develop into an all-star.

Asik 25 has potential to be a 10 pts 10rb 2.5block a game center

R Anderson 23 is currently averaging 17pts 7 rb shooting 43% from 3

Holiday 21 is averaging 14pts 5 assists 3 rb shooting 40% from 3, good size at pg

Rivers 19 has the potential to be a 20pt a game guy, worst case he is OJ Mayo

Flynn 23 could play along side either guard and be a spark off the bench

J Green 25 should join the Cs at a discount while getting healthy

JJ Johnson 23 just needs to keep developing his game should make for a decent 3rd big next year

I'm just laying out a possible rebuild strategy. If come the trade deadline we look like we are in championship contention or Howard contention then I wont want this done. However both are unlikely.

Philly probably wouldn't trade Rondo for Holliday straight up, let alone throw in a first.

Not only is Holliday on the rise, but his skillsets fit a lot better with the rest of their core.  The last thing Philly needs is another player who can't shoot.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Im okay with the idea. Holiday is a stud.

Here lies the problem. What if all those names listed DOES NOT sign with Boston? Let's assume Jeff Green will be with us. No Anderson, no Asik, and Mayo is restricted, so the Griz can match any offer. With most of the major top tier talents already signed, who do we have left? Beasley? Hawes? I kept on saying that cap space is your friend and enemy. You can't have way too much.

The Rivers deal could happen. I'm just not sure that I'd do this on the assumption that those FA's would sign with Boston. And Im not letting Rondo go for that. I mean, Holiday is a stud, but he ain't no ROndo.

trade paul, his past it, philly is feeling they are close might value pierce's "leadership" this might work,

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6rk6q8v

nocioni contract is expiring, next year is team option.

jrue is overrated rondo averages 5+ assits more and 2 extra rebound plus is a better defender, plus has way better shot selection, 100 points better fg%.

ppl this is the same rondo, that the team won a championship with, what's changed is that the big 3 are the old 3 now.

I think they take Rondo for Holiday straight up any day of the week. There pick will be late 20s and we take on Nocionis contract.

Phili gains the better player with out having to spend more $$. They really don't need to add more youth to this roster. They have plenty of depth at ever position. There biggest need is to resign Hawes.

Boston gains a younger player 21 vs 26 with potential and roster flexibility (cap space and trade-able pick)

Rondo is not good enough to get CP3, Westbrook, Curry, Lowry, or Holiday.  The C's were smart in trying to move him the past 2 seasons while his stock was high (at least in the media), but other teams were smarter in not taking the bait.

I figure 8 mill because centers are always over paid, I would hope we could sign him for 6 - 6.5. If we did get him for 6 mill that would give us 8.5 left over after signing a player like Flynn for 4 mill we could use the last 4.5 to round out the roster with 1 year deals. Then that 4.5 gets coupled with pierce and nocionis contract to be used on a FA SF.

other options

the key is not to settle for 2nd and 3rd options for the long term deals. If we cant get the guy we want then fill the role with a cheap player or a 1 year contract vet.

red are the guys I would actually sign black would be logical options that I would only sign for cheap and or short deals.

sg 1.rivers 2.Mayo 3. L Fields 4.B Beal 5. John Jenkins
sf 1.Batum 2. J Green 3.Sam Young
PF 1.R Anderson 2.M Beasly 3.JJ Hickson
C  1.O Asik 2.Hawes 3.R Lopez

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
Rondo is our only good young piece, I think we should trade away the older players before looking to move rondo.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19
