Problem is most of us aren't being paid millions upon millions of dollars to walk away from the jerk. There was absolutely no reason for LeBron to challenge a fan to fight no matter what he said. Insult him back? Sure. Stare him down after a big shot sure? Laugh at him? Sure. Those are all fair game when someone in the stands engages with you. But challenging him to a fight? Nope.

LeBron really wonders why he is the villian? Jeez...

This would only hold water if Lebron HAD actually challenged the fan to a fight. You are just looking for things to insult Lebron about.

Saying, "I could kick your ass" and "Let's fight" are completely different things. Hell, that's the whole point of the free speech thing YOU were just going on about. Lebron simply responded in kind to the heckler, he insulted him back. It was the FAN that then tried to turn it into an actual fight by saying, "Let's go."

So please, get over yourself. I am not the biggest Lebron fan in the world, but it really sickens me the lengths people will go through to turn things back on Lebron and blame him.

Sometime in 2004 or 2005, I was absolutely trashed at a Celtics game sitting virtually front row (My drunk ass snuck up, you could do that back then), and I started talking smack to Kendal Gill of all players. As he drove to the hoop, I yelled "Kendall Gill? You suck!" wicked loud right before he pulled up, banged a 10 foot runner and stared me down me down for 3 or 4 seconds before he ran down the other end of the court to D-up.  Anyway, he did this 4 possessions in a row and I stopped talking smack to Kendal Gill.

Lebron take note.

yes.. I can walk away of almost any provocation specially the ones attacking me
but talking about mothers, and sisters, and sons and wives, come one, I can lose my coolness 3 times everyday and  5 times on sundays.

This time I will take LeBrons side.

Yes the fan was acting like a jerk.  There are these kind of fans at every arena.

What this shows me is that LBJ is weak mentally.  I guess that should come as no surprise though.  Anyone with the kind of talent he has that can totally disappear in the biggest moments obviously has some kind of short coming between the ears.
KG does this crap all the time.  Is he weak mentally?

This guy played ball all his life, grew up in Ohio's fifth largest city, and he can't take trash talk about his mom?
I would think that he would have developed a thinker skin over the years.
Am I missing something?
Back to wanting Joe fired.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Yeah, totally depends on what the "fan" said, imo.

I disagree.  I don't think the league wants players offering to fight the fans in any way.  It's just bad for its image.

Lebron (or Glen Davis, or whatever moron goes after fans next) needs to be mature enough to walk away.

In a vacuum, you should always be able to fight someone up for saying lewd and inappropriate (let alone untrue) things about your mom.

But LeBron doesn't live in a vacuum, and he knows better, judging from his comments. I think what he said was okay, as long as he left it at that.

I'll always give him credit for telling his mom to stop trying to fight Paul Pierce.

It's not like LeBron went on to mope around and get lit up that night. The Heat wiped the floor with the Wizards that night.

That's on the fan.

You're two grown men.  One doesn't get a pass because he's in the stands and the other is on the floor.

<samsim> I heard about this guy who broke into a lion's den at the zoo
<samsim> and got mauled
<samsim> and people were talking about how there should have been better defences put up to prevent people getting into the cage
<samsim> a friend of mine suggested setting up some kind of deterrent
<samsim> for example, putting some sort of fierce animal in the cage, which would attack anybody who climbed in
That's what talking trash to LeBron is like, to me. It's just stupid.

I agree completely.  I mean, I'm one of the bigger LBJ detractors out there, but c'mon.  We're just reaching here.
