Having watched more of melo's games the past few weeks I would love to see the Cs grab him in the mid 20s of this draft.(If he comes out) I see him as the perfect Perk like project center who could be developed into an above average post defender and rebounder.

I would love to have Melo in Green. But I don't think Celtics have enough to get him. And if Knicks decide to trade him, it won't be to the Celtics.

Melo was a forward for Syracuse. He won a title there.

I doubt Melo will make it that far in the draft.

It's a deep draft but it ain't that deep.

I've seen him in a couple of games, and from what I've seen think he'd make a very good pro.

1.  He has one of the coolest names ever.

2.  He looks like he could be a very solid NBA center.  Not in the Perk mold, but more like a Tyson Chandler, with that length and wing span (and it looked like he had some good athleticism too). Looks like he has great shot blocking instincts. After the Georgetown game where he had 11 points, 7 boards, and 6 blocks (several big ones late in the game and in overtime), I looked him up on the draft boards and was surprised to see him so low.  Centers are usually a hot commodity.  Although I also saw him against UConn where he had 8 points, 3 blocks, and 3 rebounds, and was disappointed (only 3 boards for a legit 7 footer!?) Although I've learned not to judge big men by their college stats (or lack thereof) after thinking Roy Hibbert would be a bust because he only averaged 6.9 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in his best season, which I thought for a 7'2" guy was pathetic in college.

Not that I put much weight in these sites (especially in late January/early February) but nbadraft.net had at #20, and draftexpress.com has him ranked as the 61st best prospect.

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
I've watched a lot of Cuse games and Melo has really come into his own this year - lost a ton of weight and developed a legit jumper in addition to some (limited) post moves.

I'd like to see us snap him up but true centers in that mold are hard to come by...he might very well be gone by then.  Either way, I don't think he'd be ready to contribute next year, and maybe not the year after either.

I think he is a late lottery pick and probably no worse than 19
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Hibbert was a great choice where he fell in the draft.  I thought he'd go higher.

The reality is it's pretty hard to get a good feel for how a center will be at the next level.  I haven't seen a college offense that goes through a center in years...Then saw only one.  There's only been one center that was a can't miss in the last 10 or so years....And he can't stay on the court.
