What do you guys think about mortgaging the future for Dwight Howard before or right after All-Star break with this trade? (Works in trade checker)

Boston Sends: Rajon Rondo, Jermaine O'Neal, Jajuan Johnson, Greg Steisma & Both of our 2012 1st rounders (although I hope 1st would be enough)

Orlando Sends: Dwight Howard

On Surface it looks like alot to give away, but we would contend this year & most likely we would be able to entice Howard to stay (a little Bill Russell inspirational talks about how it is to win in Boston & our storied history & how he would fit in amongst the greats if he accomplished a few titles here). And in the summer he & Danny could recruit Deron into coming here to be that future piece to put us over the top. And what a 1-2 building block that would be for the next 5-7 yrs.

I think the issue with this trade is that you're sending away one of the biggest reasons for Howard to come here.....Rondo!

Howard wants to be THE man night in, night out.....Rondo is the perfect pass first PG for him......

If that trade went through he'd end up with a worse point man than he has in Nelson.....then in the off-season C's are stuffed because big 3 get even older (near impossible now), we use a huge whack of cap in re-signing him (IF he's been persuaded) and the left over money, there aren't really quality PG's to team him up with entering the market now......

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Two problems,
1)we lose Rondo ( so we can't trade him for Deron Williams or Nash or anyone).
2) the Magic will want more than this. To us Celtics fans it looks ok (well not really to me), but Orlando's management wouldn't even pick up the phone on this.
They'd want Pierce, Rondo, Bass, Bradley or Johnson and probably both picks and we'd have to take Big Baby back.
They still probably wouldn't do it even for that load.

We ain't getting Dwight through trade, we have to get him to come here and trade Rondo for D Williams if Dwight really wants us to.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

No offense, but Orlando doesn't even consider this.

That offer won't even get you Moe Howard from the Three Stooges, let alone Dwight Howard (nyuk nyuk nyuk  ;D)

TP...this really made me laugh...big Stooges fan here: "Moe, Larry the Cheese!", "We ALL put the yeast in!", "Press"...."Press"..."Pull"...."Whatsamatta you?...you choppa..choppa..chop..you think you George-a Wash" (that sounded just like my grandfather). Great memories.

Also TP to the OP for trying and having to absorb this good natured ribbing.
