Tony Parker caliber PG

Interesting.  Where would you slot Parker into the current PG hierarchy, Who?
I think I have him 7th best PG this season. All-Star caliber player but not a franchise guy.

I have Irving with a higher upside than that.  I respect the heck out of Tony Parker's game, and think he would have put up tremendous statistics if he was on a lesser team where he could be more selfish.  However, I do see Irving as having franchise-level potential.

If I was starting a franchise with a goal of winning a championship within five years, I'd put Irving behind Rose and CP3, but ahead of Westbrook, Wall, and perhaps Deron.

Too high. Irving is good, but I don't think he's that good, at least in the 'if I were picking a blah blah with 5 yr goal' conversation.

Whats your total PG list?
#1 - Deron
#2 - Rose
#3 - Paul
#4 - Rondo
#5 - Nash
#6 - Westbrook
#7 - Parker
#8 - Steph Curry
#9 - Kyle Lowry

I think I have Irving at #12 or #13 and John Wall down around #18-#21. I prefer Wall as a prospect to Irving though in large part due to his superior physical tools (and vision).

Well its a flawed question to begin with..who are the other players? Is the PG the best player on the team?

Thanks Who, TP.

I guessed your top 6 right (not the order) to pat myself on the back, though I kept waffling on whether Nash or Curry for the last guy in.

wow thats high for a rookie who has only played 23games.

He doesn't possess Rose or Westbrook athleticism, nor Rondo or Paul's court vision. Tony Parker comparison is a fair one (Finals MVP). A good scorer for a point guard not much else. No way no how Kyrie is a franchise player.

Honest question, how many games have you watched Kyrie Irving play?  I wouldn't ever describe him as "A good scorer for a point guard not much else."

I don't know.  Let's say an elite center (a guy like Bynum, maybe) and an excellent defensive SF (Deng, perhaps?).  Add in a team full of role players who fit well.

On that squad over the next five years, I'd go Rose, CP3, Irving/Deron, Curry, Westbrook, Rondo, Wall, Jennings.

Haha...you should read this article, check out #6: Secret Socrates

As far as PG's in that scenario, over the next 5 years (but not nec IN 5 yrs), CP3, Rose, Deron, Westbrook, Lowry (no antagonism intended...I really believe this), Rondo, Irving

I don't think Wall, Jennings, or any other pg prospect currently in the league could lead a contender, whether its health/attitude/whatever.

So you've watched him play 2 games, in which he averaged 22 points and 6 assists on 57% shooting, and you've decided that he can never be a star?

This guy sounds awesome:

What he is actually doing is playing King of the Mountain without telling anyone else that they're playing. He gets up on the mountain and invites people to come climb because he "wants to see other people's climbing techniques." Then, as you start climbing and showing him your footholds and such, he kicks you in the face and starts knocking all the other climbers off, and they're just as surprised as you were./#ixzz1mOZEKLh9

I've never said that. Tony Parker is a star. Kyrie lucky enough to follow Tony's footsteps, he too will be a star in the NBA.

The way Jay Williams was supposed to be but way way faster and more athletic. Like 85% of Chris Paul. I admit I have no idea how he is defensively.
