Is this a dirty tactic by the Bulls? Boozer makes himself bleed to get a timeout after the Bulls have used all their timeouts up.

Could those of us who were unable to catch the game please see some video?

Or at least a detailed-ish description of what happened?

Thanks

Genius, but they definitely need to be punished and the rule has definitely got to change

pretty much, I was impressed.  That idea never even crossed my mind, but yea i envision them suspending players who purposely cut themselves next season.

Unsportsman-like conduct.  Smart to operate within the existing rules (as a Belichick fan, how can you not love this?) but there needs to be a clarification/rules change made.

I mean, it's functionally the same as a player in the NFL faking an injury so they stop the clock (which they've address with the 10-second runoff).  It's unsportsmanlike, and should be a technical foul.

I find the righteous indignation from fans who watch the Pierce upfake/charge and celebrate when he goes to the free throw line. Or watch Pierce get an extra step more often than not...Or celebrated on when every Glen Davis overt flop created a turnover for our opponent...Etc....a bit funny.

What Boozer did is no different than flopping....Getting extra steps or bogus calls simply because of your status in the NBA.

Not the same at all. It's up to the ref to decide whether a certain situation is a flop or an offensive foul. You're by far not guaranteed to get the call.

There is no such discretion involved in intentionally inflicting a wound on yourself in order to abuse a loophole that shouldn't really exist.

Alright, at least two people have already asked for clarification, and I am going to third it ... can someone please describe what is going on? I can't find references to it anywhere else on the Internet, and I watched the game and don't recall seeing anything that hinted Boozer had purposefully cut himself for an extra timeout.

So, evidence that this actually happened? Anyone?

I think it's a pretty cool play.

Hmmm...

I have a PERFECT example setting precedent (sort of) for an almost identical (okay that's a stretch) incident:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloodgate

According to the precedent set by this, Boozer should be banned for a year (maybe 4 months after an appeal) and Thibodeau banned from coaching for three years.

Thoughts?

I have said the officials are worse then the WWE officials because the NBA officials look right at what happens and mess up.  WWE officials are always distracted.

Wrestlers and players all know how to properly fall down to get a reaction when they are barely touched.

The stars are made to look better then they are.

There is a lot of whining

Now the players are cutting themselves as well?

I agree that the loophole shouldn't exist.

It's hardly discretion when Pierce is the only player in the NBA to get away with a flagrant offensive foul in front of the official 99 times out of a hundred.  It's biased officiating.  But that's OK because Pierce is our guy.

What Boozer did is done in the WWE all the time.  Since a good part of the time it looks like the NBA and WWE use the same officials...Well...I just don't get the outrage.

Sounds like a matter of who's ox is getting gored.

Even the WWE doesn't allow its performers to cut themselves any more!

NBA has OVERTAKEN pro wrestling.

How long before our players are allowed to spit green mist to blind the opposition?

I think they already do.

If a player gets hit by Wades green mist, it is a defensive foul on that player and Wade gets FTs.

I stopped reading at "flagrant offensive foul". It's kind of hard to take the rest of the argument seriously.

I understand the slant you're trying to give to this, but fabricated "arguments" are not going to get it done.
