Rondo pads his stats...Totally concentrated on rebounding when he new he was close. Still good, but I'd rather him just concentrate on getting as many assists and points as possible.

Like 32 points and 15 assists? ???

I think Rajon Rondo is perhaps the most polarizing figure on the Celtics right now.

We had Tony Allen filling that role...until he left for MEM.

I still see "trade for TA"..."Come Back, TA"..."We could've used TA" threads around here from time to time, lol...

Tell you what...wait about 3 weeks....we MAY not have to worry about Rondo much longer.....

And then we'll see the "Could've used Rondo"...."Trade for Rondo"...."Come back, Rondo"...threads.....

Screw the triple double, his most important stat was 13 FTA.  He hadn't attempted more than 2 in the past 4 games, and that lack of penetration is what made our offense look pathetic.

Making 10 of them helps too.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Men lie Women lie & #'s always do in the NBA. Don't believe the hype about Rondo's tripple double. All I witnessed was his trade value going up.  ;D

We struggled 2nite playing a team without their best player & starting shooting guard. Not a legitimately win.

So I guess JO and Bass not playing doesn't count?

I know, seriously. Rondo looked as surprised as anyone by that last rebound. Watson missed a free throw and none of the bigs got the rebound - nice job, Rondo, and way to hit your free throws at the end (even though we probably had it locked up at that point anyway)!

Rondo totally kicked butt tonight. He was all over the place, making pin-point passes and driving to the hoop with ease. He is the reason we won tonight. If there is one criticism, it's the slow it down and hope for the best mentality of the team with less than five minutes left in the game. I get that Rondo changes his game for the worse in these moments, but this is something that Doc needs to change. In my opinion, it's a problem with coaching...kind of like when a team in football plays preven defense in the last two minutes. They don't want to screw up, so they stop being aggressive.

Is it just me because it seemed like Rondo had no joy in his game despite dominating. When the young guys ran with him and he could "do his thing", I expected to see some sort of pleasure on his face. However I just saw the old plow horse doing his job one more time. I wonder how much all the "crap" that he takes is getting to him.

Rondo looked sharp today but good luck getting some peeps to admit that.  Even Bradley shot good today.

Rondo looked better than sharp today.  The Rondo we saw today is one of my favorite players in the league -- in all honesty and absolute seriousness.  What's more, there aren't many players in the league who are better than that Rondo.

The fact that we don't see that Rondo more often, and that we see his Mr. Hyde version at least as often, is what frustrates me so much about Rondo.

When a player has that much talent, that ability to affect every phase of a game and be the motor for the team, it's unacceptable when he doesn't even come close to doing that.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

Celtics only won because of no Rose. Bass & J.O played before & we got rocked

Our usually invisible and always injured center, and our 6th or 7th man being out does not in any way compare to a team playing without their starting shooting guard, and the current league MVP.

This was a very needed win, and a great performance by Rondo, but it does not mean that we have proven we can beat the bulls, or that rondo has "answered his critics" like so many headlines say.  We've seen Rondo play like this many times.  The issue, is that he then falls off the map, or kills us in the next game.

Hopefully he (and JJJ) can build off this.  Otherwise, I hope rival GMs remember it once trade season opens.

Well, for me, I'll lie in my bed of excitement about this win.

Regardless of who played or didn't, we won against perhaps the best defensive team in the league - Rose or not.

I'll savor it.

CHI without Rose is still a playoff team, to me.

With Rose? They are contenders.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
The young guys running with him was great to see.
Put young athletic bigs, and dead eye shooters around this kid and the sky is the limit for the Celtics.

Imagine Harden, Rudy Gay, Verajao and an athletic power forward running the floor with Rondo all day.
Dare to dream.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
