No, teams gave him a shot (Houston, Golden State), but he didn't pan out. Heck, he was buried on the bench at NY for a while. Kudos to the Knicks, for catching a lucky break. That's about it (oh, I haven't read the proposed trade of Rondo for Lin, but, like most of the trades on here, it sounds ridiculous).

I find it pretty pathetic that someone is going to preach about how "disrespectful" the Celtics, ownership, coaches and fans are toward "snubbing" Lin AFTER he has four great games.
No NBA team saw this coming. He comes from an Ivy league school that doesn't even have a great track record from a league not known to have NBA type caliber players. Maybe Danny should spend more time watching a 6'4 center from a local community college who puts up great stats for next year's draft.

Evaluating talent isn't a sure thing. You get busts and you get gems. That's the nature of sports. Busts and hidden gems give the game a very enjoyable aspect to it. Sucks to have a bust. Great to find a hidden gem.

I'm glad for Lin and yes the Celtic's organization (as well as all NBA organizations) make mistakes. This is a lousy example of it.

nobody saw it coming anyways,those people who previously had a hold on him blew it..besides, if he holds onto his present pace 'til the end of the season&at least brings them into the playoffs, then we can start talking..now? still all hype..

Houston blew it the most. The Warriors didn't really have something for him. Everybody else just didn't bother.

Houston on the other hand, if they knew that he can play at this high level it would be a different story. They might have packaged Kyle Lowry and anybody else to the Lakers right now for Gasol, knowing Lin can take the PG helm. Now is Lin better than Lowry, not. But he would be good enough for the Rockets that they can let go of Lowry and be able to land Gasol, finally.

Houston, bad, bad move.

I'd say that Dallas didn't blow it.  They were the team that invited him to summer league in 2010 and they tried to sign him but were outbid by Golden State.

Well stated, along with Roy. I wish the guy good luck and hope his recent performance is the real indicator of his ability...not the entire previous season.

 While I hate to muddy the waters with silly things such as facts and expert scouting, a few may fine this article interesting...

It basically says that Lin in college was productive and good. But the NBA worried about his mediocre physical abilities and being a combo guard with less than ideal height.

I don't think we blew it on Lin. He's a good player right now but that's because he's improved significantly and found a good system.

As far as Boston fans go, I don't think he snuck up on us. I think we were all pretty high on him when he was tearing up the summer league and he showed flashes of brilliance at Harvard.

I don't think he was underestimated because of those stereotypes (which do exist) because NBA teams care about the bottom line more than anything. And right now they're working in his favor because he has a unique story.

I wish him the best and I'd love to get him. He would be a great backup/6th man for us. I think he'll be around in the league for a while. He reminds me of a big Ty Lue. Seems to be a great character guy too.

Lin could be great or more likely he will get scouted and then when he is forced to make adjustments he starts floundering and then the Lin phenomenon passes quietly in the night.

Yah I guess it would have been a good story; but not sure how much playing time he would have gotten and Doc and Danny are committed to developing Avery and would have let Etwan Moore go.

small sample if you ask me. Why do people tend to exaggerate things . . . Next thing you know, Scal might be doing 15 points, 15 rebounds for 4 games straight and people will say that the Celtics were fools in letting him go.

When did Scal ever get 15 rebounds? Why would you compare what Lin did with what Scal never did?
