Jennings said he would leave for a big market. That would be a more interesting swap.

We might have to get a third team involved to make salaries work, but I like this.  We get a point guard who can score, and we save a ton of money to go after free agents.

The Knicks get the point guard they need, and the Celtics start over with a younger, cheaper point guard who can consistently put up big numbers.

I assume you saw Lin play vs the Celts last week and said to yourself "That's the kind of player we need to get to the next level"?

He played college ball in their backyard. I'm sure Danny Ainge knows who Jeremy lin is.

Well, he *did* got 2-for-2 from the line. ;)

Imagine if we could combine Avery Bradley and Jeremy Lin.  Superstar.

trade rondo for the guy that everyone made fun of at rondo's charity game...?

sounds great!

i mean, he has had a tough time cracking the rotation on a team that is desperate for any capable pg, but it seems like he's slowly getting there now...

What does his play in a charity game over the summer matter?  He's tearing it up right now.

We desperately need scoring, and Lin brings that.  We already saw that the team can look good without Rondo.

Think of this trade as Rondo for Lin + $10 million extra in cap space.  We could start rebuilding properly, without being anchored down by spending $11 million on a guy who isn't a building block.

This thread really isn't a joke? I can't even begin to fathom how people think some of the trades proposed here are a good idea.

and maybe even get a really low 2nd round pick if we include that 3rd team and play our cards smart...

then it'd be a steal

Well, we'd probably have to throw in Bradley - I doubt we're getting Lin for JUST Rondo.

BTW, just out of idle curiosity, Roy, aren't troll alt accounts pretty strictly frowned upon here?

I'm asking you this as a mod, of course, not as someone who could be easily linked to said account.

I'm not the biggest Rondo fan but geesh! Do we get 3 unconditional 1st rounders along with Lin?

I was thinking the same thing when I read this. These are two possible trades that work on ESPN trade machine.

I think that there's a number of people who would applaud this trade, then spend a lot of time wondering what's wrong with the Celtics afterward.
