To be honest, I am actually very torn about trading Rondo for Gasol.

Though I think adding Gasol would strengthen our front-court, what do we do with our back-court? Make Bradley starting PG?

Don't know about that. I think I'd support this trade alot more if Danny had another PG in mind to replace Rondo (trading for Mo Williams, signing Aaron Brooks, etc.)

I agree with the other fan that I'd much rather trade Rondo for Bynum, rather than Gasol. Bynum at least is a franchise center and every bit the player that Dwight Howard is.

We have enough soft bigs.

Rondo for Gasol?  Hell no.

Rondo for Bynum?  Now you're talking.

Don't agree with you in saying Gasol is soft. He looked pretty darn good to me last night.

But I definitely agree with you in the sense that I'd much rather trade Rondo for Bynum rather than Gasol. Problem is I don't think LA does (at least not as long as Dwight is attainable.)

To me.the whole "soft" thing is all about mentality. Gasol wasnt soft last night KG wasnt soft.

Somebody who was soft? Rondo last night. Played like he didnt want to.break a  nail and was just a hot mess last night at every critical moment of the game.

last night is not a night the lakers say "yeah lets go get rondo for gasol"

Gasol's skillset has always been one I admired.  It stinks that he's on the Lakers, because I can't root for him anymore.

Rondo + JO + Dooling for Gasol + Blake?  Yeah, I think I'd do that.  And yeah, the Lakers probably wouldn't, because Rondo ≠ CP3.
I'd absolutely do that, but yeah I don't think LA does.  They might if your trade was added to i.e. Bass for Walton is also in there.

Honestly I'd probably do it though I really like Bass...

A deal built around Rondo for Gasol is something I would consider, but also something I would put off until the off-season.

I'd do this deal in a hearbeat.

But the Lakers wouldn't. Not enough value for Gasol there.

I'm not so sure. Below is per Adrian Wojnarowski, who has a good grasp of things.

Quote
Nevertheless, Kobe was chatting Rondo up for most of the fourth quarter. Rondo’s a player who so intrigues Bryant. Who wouldn’t want him? But he isn’t available to the Lakers. Everyone knows the Lakers need a point guard, and the price of a top playmaker remains the same: Gasol. The Houston Rockets still have a longing for Gasol, but the Lakers would want a player the Rockets are most reluctant to part with: point guard Kyle Lowry. The Lakers could probably pry a combination of Kevin Martin and Luis Scola for Gasol, league sources said, but it’s doubtful they’ll move Gasol without solving their point guard problem. Lowry has developed into one of the league’s finest point guards, but Rockets general manager Daryl Morey isn’t trading him.

Well, if we make that move I'd prefer to expand it as Roy suggests for Steve Blake.

Perhaps it's worth a call.

Why wouldn't Kobe be interested in a star-caliber player who will not try to take shot attempts away from him?

I have been thinking about the Celtics using their cap space to trade for a player who is not a free agent and taking on way more salary than they send out.  Rondo for Gasol in the off-season should give the Lakers a decent-sized trade exception, depending upon what other pieces are involved.  I would expect at least one draft pick to be involved in such a trade.

He is a good player but he is such a whinner.  I have never liked whinners on any team.  Blake and Gasol is tempting though.

No bigs look soft against our bigs they all look all world.   I happen to think the Lakers ones are pretty good bigs so they look really good against us.

Rondo for pre-injury KG?  Yeah, I'd do that at this point.
