A player who was traded then waived by his new team can't re-sign with his old team until one year after the trade or the end of his contract, whichever is earlier.

I am glad that this loophole was closed.

Closing that loophole did no favor to the Celtics, with two big expiring contracts - KG and Allen - on their books.

A player also can't be traded back to a team that traded him that particular season.
