Rondo for Gasol a possiblity? bit.ly/wd2xlI Celtics interested in Pau - but unlikely til March

Blaze Gunn @Chaoticblaze27
@EricPincus Give away your young player? for a older player? on an already old team and then now the Celtics need a point guard... doubt it

Eric Pincus @EricPincus
@Chaoticblaze27 Celtics have almost zero inside - and they don't want to rebuild around Rondo - and Bradley a stop-gap - gain in Gasol

@jeffblackcpa Celtics don't want to rebuild around Rondo

Jeff Black @jeffblackcpa
@EricPincus Celtics can do better than Gasol if trying to rebuild, IMO

Eric Pincus @EricPincus
@jeffblackcpa equally gives the paul pierce era the 2 more years on his contract - with a vet roster - kg, ray still etc

@EricPincus Your sources say Rondo for Gasol is a legit possblity or just chatter? In the article it doesn't say.

Eric Pincus @EricPincus
@DaAnsahOnNFLNBA I write that sources say Boston interested in Pau - that is accurate

@EricPincus @LaughAtLeBron i didnt read the article, but how would that benefit the Celtics...they would just be getting older?

Eric Pincus @EricPincus
@KimSherayko actually Pau younger than most of their players - tis true! But they're not building around Rondo moving forward

Kim Sherayko @KimSherayko
@EricPincus okay, nice shot at the old folks!!! :) haha but if they trade Rondo. what the heck would the future look like?

Eric Pincus @EricPincus
@KimSherayko future would be brighter than what they don't have inside next to KG

Kim Sherayko @KimSherayko
@EricPincus but that would only benefit the team for a year if they do indeed "blow it up." having rondo would be for many years.

Eric Pincus @EricPincus
@KimSherayko here's the rub - they don't want Rondo for many years . . . personality conflicts

Eric Pincus @EricPincus
@ThadSingley @TheNoLookPass for whatever reason they don't want to build around Bradley and they fill a void inside that's massive

Rey-Rey @TheNoLookPass
@Brendan_E @EricPincus Small sample of games. Boston not better without Rondo long-term.

Eric Pincus @EricPincus
@TheNoLookPass but if they don't believe in rondo? which they don't? You can't make moves all at once - you make steps

Actually @LarryCoon - I found the sourced info on Boston interest before I noticed the Kupchak comment

Adrian Carrillo @Ayyeeebruhh
@EricPincus Do you believe a deal can get done Rondo for Pau?
Eric Pincus @EricPincus
@Ayyeeebruhh might - but in march - and that's a long way off

Is this guy credible?   ???

His name sounds familiar, but I can't place him. And just so everyone knows: the trade deadline is March 15.

I'll start off with quoting Mr. Pincus himself.

Funny thing is, Donny Marshall claimed that his sources said the same thing about Rondo. We've heard Doc say that he had to tell Rondo that his teammates didn't like him once upon a time. The point is, I think there's too much backing up Eric at this point to claim he made that up.

This is what really got me. This is where you have to decide if you really believe Eric Pincus, no matter what really happens with this story. Assuming Eric's telling the truth, this throws out the idea that he's taking some vague quote and running with it. So that said, I can understand if some people think he's fibbing here to give his story more juice. The question is, how do you argue he's making that part up?

Also...I noticed some of the pics on his twitter page.

http://twitpic.com/1xni8w <---This is the pic of the trophy up close from the 2010 NBA Finals. Yes, that one where the Lakers beat the C's. :(

http://yfrog.com/8bfiimfj <---Hmm, hidden 2009-2010 Lakers championship banner.

http://yfrog.com/hss1kbblj <---Hey, it's World Peace.

What am I getting at here? Clearly, this guy seems to be someone who covers the Lakers, a legit local reporter for them. He has 9500+ followers, including Marc Stein. I won't pretend like I heard the guy before, but from this mini background check, yes, I think he is credible enough for the time being.

He's an idiot.  I got in a twitter argument with him during the vetoed Laker/Hornets trade... he was stating a bunch of stuff as fact which wasn't true.  He was jumping on board with the "Stern Meddled" conspiracy theory crap and I was calling him out on it.

He's not getting his info from anywhere different... it's the same garbage article reading into a throwaway comment that the Lakers are seeking out a 25 year old allstar point guard.  People are reading into that age like it's some master hint.  He could be talking about anyone in the mid 20s range and its probably just a comment from when they were trying to trade for Chris Paul.  Rondo is 26 in a couple weeks anyway.

Pincus is listed as a senior writer at Hoopsworld.  His covers both LA teams.  I think he pretty clearly has some sources associated with the Lakers.

I do have suspicions that Ainge tried to jump into the vetoed Chris Paul trade and tried to take over the Houston role of facilitating the trade so that the Celtics get Gasol and the Hornets would get whatever Rondo-centric package Ainge was offering for Paul plus additional assets from LA.

I could also see Ainge exploring (not actively seeking, but just checking to see what kind of deal Orlando will accept) a three-way deal where LA gets Howard and Rondo, the Celtics get Gasol, and the Magic get Bynum plus multiple picks from both the Lakers and Celtics.

The guys on EEI were ripping Pincus. Didn't seem like he was a credible source for anything.
