I'm not one for crazy trade ideas, and the idea of the Celtics and Lakers getting together on a trade now that both of them are contenders (unlike pre-KG when these teams would be trade partners), but this trade makes sense for both teams.
Boston gets Gasol and Blake
Lakers get KG and Dooling
Why Boston does it. Figuring that they're not going to be able to use their cap space this summer to land Howard, they make a move for a younger big than KG who figures to be able to give them solid play for the next three years (and has also shown trade value). Blake and Dooling are throw ins that the Lakers want to do to have more cap room next year.
Why LA does it. While still being able to contend this year, it clears cap room for them to put together the dream scenario this summer - signing both Deron Williams and Dwight Howard. All they have to do is convince either the Magic or Nets to S and T for Bynum, (or not pick up the option year on Bynum's deal) and amnesty Artest or Walton.
This season, LA could use some of KG's intensity, and Boston could use some of Gasol's low post scoring and rebounding. Boston loses some defense, and LA gains some. KG playing next to a huge center like Bynum would really help him too.
If KG decides to play there next year on the cheap with Howard, D-Will and Kobe, look out.
