Philadelphia and Houston fell into that category of a team that is a really good team but that they have no elite talent in any one guy. There's about 6 teams in the league like that that I wanted to avoid taking. I admit they are better than teams like Cleveland and New jersey but in essence you are looking for the best talent you can find in two players.

Exactly. You're not getting a complete team of solid supporting players, you're building that. Why not start out with elite talent?

That said, Kyle Lowry is pretty clearly the best player on a 14-11 team in a tough Western Conference. He's not on the elite level of the top tier players in the league, but with the way he's been playing so far, and his age, and everything else, he's a pretty awesome building block.

I've always been an Amar'e fan, and since I live in NY (not the city, the state..there is other stuff in the state besides NYC), if you're hoping to see a basketball game in a bar that isn't on TNT or ESPN, you've got to choose between Knicks or Nets.

Roy and I had our choices down to Portland or Cleveland and thought Cleveland would be more fun. If this was a competition though, we might have gone with a team that is still on the board because of the elite talent in one particular player.

Ya, it's tough to pass on an Eduardo Najera-type, but sometimes you gotta go with your heart.

Edgar might have a point about Amare for the rest of the year though.

How's the death of his brother gonna effect him and his play when he returns. Will he dedicate his play to his brother and become a monster or will he mentally go into a shell and play even worse than he has in this season in which he has clearly taken a step backwards?

For the rest of this year Amare could suck
