Makes you wonder how many more Lin's are out there if not for stubborn coaches that refuse to play young players. I'm glad we don't have one like that in Boston.

There's one i know that is similar or pretty close and I want him on the team. Goran Dragic.

He's got serious talent. And, in all honesty while he has much more to prove, he's clearly better than Rondo is.

Gotta love CelticsBlog...home of the knee-jerk reaction.

I love watching Lin play. He's VERY fundamental and is a heady player. I hope he sticks around and becomes a full time difference maker but.......its unlikely.

On a related note, doesn't this strech pretty much confirm what anyone that follows D'antoni at all has thought all along? He's clearly only capable of coaching one type of system. With Melo and Amare in they look terrible. Now with role players Lin/Fields/Chandler they just steamrolled the Lakers.

Has anyone mentioned John Starks in this thread?  As an undrafted rookie, he didn't get very many minutes with Golden State.  With an offensive rating of 91 and a WS/48 of -0.002.  (To give you a frame of reference, this season, Avery Bradley has an offensive rating of 85 and a WS/48 of 0.19.)  Stark is is released after his first season and spends a year out of the NBA.

He eventually signed with the Knicks.  He injured himself trying to dunk on Patrick Ewing in practice.  The team couldn't release him while he was injured and eventually kept him.  The team played 16 games before Starks gets his first minutes.  He scores 20 points in his second and third games as a Knicks.  He carves out a career that includes one All-Star appearance and one Sixth Man of the Year award.

Will Jeremy Lin end up with a career as good as John Starks?  (The gold standard for undrafted players remains Ben Wallace.)  Maybe not.  Probably not, even.  Is it possible?  Well, sure.

Are you saying we don't have one of those players in Boston, or sarcastically stating that Doc Rivers doesn't play rookies? If it's the latter, you're being really unfair.

Doc could play his rookies more, but it's not like he never gives them a shot. None of the rookies who never got to play have starred once they left - look at the stellar careers of Gabe Pruitt, Lester Hudson, Luke Harangody, JR Giddens et. al.

Not a stellar games this time but still leading the team to another win. Knicks win again, as is normal when players get to play without Melo (like the Nuggets).

pattern emerging he is a turnover machine, could be cos lack of options, and when amare and melo come back, that could help him not take so many risks

Right now he like a june jones qb great stats in total yards but lots of turnovers.

  • Rondo = Good
Lin is turnover prone and isn't actually a very consistent / good shooter.

Still, I don't think there's much doubt that he's a legit NBA point guard.  Question is if he's deserving of a starting spot long term.  Probably better than anybody else on the Knicks' roster, at least.

I don't watch Knicks games but he had 1 FG out of 17 in the 2nd half. The pace is completely different compared to college and D'Antoni is playing him 40 minutes a game. Reckon the turnovers have something to do with his minutes played?

8-24 with 6 turnovers... that's how it starts, folks.

Reminds me of my glory days battling rookie Brandon Jennings bandwagon fans who were hyping him as the next Iverson.  Some good old fashioned back-and-forth banter, gentlemen.

I was right in the thick of it... with Jennings having scored
17 points, 32 points, 55 points, 25 points, 19 points, 29 points, 26 points... 7 games and shooting around 50% through them...

Next game:  6-21 shooting with 5 turnovers.  Rut Roh...

Game after that:  4-15 with 5 turnovers.  RUT ROH!!!!

7 games in a row shooting under 40%.  The wheels came off.  He inevitably was told to stop chucking so many shots... Finished the season shooting a predictable 37%.

This is how it starts....

can't see past the jealously
