Believe Howard wouldn't want to be bossed around the court by Kobe , that probally would get old.  Gasol is a good whipping boy for Kobe to mistreat.

LaBrd33 you are right. This is the first time I have ever heard Kobe portrayed as selfish and egocentric before.  ;D

It is RealGM, so I expect some of you didn't read the whole story on principle (and I can't say I blame you), so you may have missed the last paragraph which claims that Howard was so put off that his representatives told the Lakers he would not sign an extension with them if traded mid-season.

Here's a helpful hint:

Mistrust "journalism" that contains the line, "according to sources" without naming those sources.

Just sayin.'

1.  How good is a core of Howard + Deron + Brooks + lottery pick; and

I'm sure a combo of DH12 and D-Will, whether it be in Brooklyn or Dallas, will start attracting some of the top FA's. I don't necessarily mean the just superstars.  But for example the top MLE guys will have them as a top choice, and likewise with the most desired vet min players.

Good Point.

You mean this, right? I found this from Hoopshype twitter, original source RealGM:

http://www.sportando.net/eng/usa/nba/35038/why_dwight_howard_said_no_to_the_lakers.html

Quote
The Los Angeles Lakers were thought to be the team Dwight Howard favored most when he requested a trade from the Orlando Magic. While the Lakers were easily the team Howard thought about most in the summer, his desire to play for the Lakers changed after a conversation with Kobe Bryant, a source said.    Howard envisioned going to the Lakers and forming a devastating one-two punch with Bryant. But Bryant had other plans for how Howard would be incorporated into the Lakers.   Bryant told Howard that he wanted him to come to Los Angeles and help him win two more championships, but not as an understudy. He wanted Howard to be the team's third option behind himself and Pau Gasol, according to a source. Bryant tried to sell Howard on being his "Tyson Chandler" and made it clear that Los Angeles would be his, but only once Bryant decided he was done playing.    Howard was turned off by the idea.    Howard stated that there was "no way" he would give up everything he has in Orlando to go to the Lakers and be the third option, a source close to the situation said. Howard certainly wouldn’t mind being a third piece on a star-studded team, similar to the situations in Miami and Boston. However, he was turned off by Bryant's presentation as it suggested something totally different. The feeling is so strong, in fact, that Howard's representatives have informed the Lakers that Howard would not sign an extension if they trade for him this season, according to a source. The only two teams with a realistic chance at signing Howard long-term are the New Jersey Nets and Orlando Magic.

It plays to what you think about Kobe Bryant.  It plays to your perception having watched him chew out Pau Gasol (arguably the best big man in the game right now).  It plays to your perception of Kobe's ego.  But do I believe that RealGM got the scoop on Kobe and Dwight's conversation?... that Kobe actually wants Dwight to be his "Tyson Chandler"?...

Naaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

It's foolish to accept wishy-washy rumors as fact based on your perception of the person.

As I noted in the first post, it is not a "scoop". Alex Kennedy  reported it on Twitter the night before it was a story on RealGM. It sounds to me like there is an inside source (Howard's agent? Big Baby? ;)), who claims to have heard it from Howard himself. That source may or may not be reliable.

Also very informative that Kobe specifically mentioned "two more championships."

Obsess about Jordan much?
