Dwight Howard don't want to be Kobe's Tyson Chandler

Bryant told Howard that he wanted him to come to Los Angeles and help him win two more championships, but not as an understudy. He wanted Howard to be the team's third option behind himself and Pau Gasol, according to a source. Bryant tried to sell Howard on being his "Tyson Chandler" and made it clear that Los Angeles would be his, but only once Bryant decided he was done playing.

Howard was turned off by the idea.

Howard stated that there was "no way" he would give up everything he has in Orlando to go to the Lakers and be the third option, a source close to the situation said. Howard certainly wouldn’t mind being a third piece on a star-studded team, similar to the situations in Miami and Boston. However, he was turned off by Bryant's presentation as it suggested something totally different.

Kobe's ego is really something else.

Crazy thing is, if DH went to Hollywood they'd (most probably) rock. But, we always have to remember: KB drove Shaq out of town and Dwight ain't Shaq. Yet, at least.

Dwight Howard would rightfully be the be the third option offensively on that Lakers team. He is not as talented an offensive threat as Pau Gasol or Kobe Bryant. He should be given and accept a more complementary role to their lead offensively.

Concentrate on being a defender, rebounder and facilitator offensively ... in the mold of a Bill Russell.

I'd love to see Dwight Howard force Otis Smith out of Orlando and stay with the Magic.

D.Howard could have a very good thing down there in Orlando if he is ruthless in taking out Otis and patient in allowing the roster time to retool.

That would be my first preference for him.

agree 100 percent i think people need to realize he's more of a bill russel than a shaq (i was going to say kareem but no one will ever be kareem)

he'll become better on offence every year but he'll never be dominant on that end of the floor ,at most he can just back up everyone who post's him for easy dunks ...i still think this celtics team(maybe next year's too) would probably the best fit for him

Agreed, and I believe Howard would be happy to do that, but it shouldn't be "Kobe's team" in his opinion. And rightfully so. If you bring in a guy, who could be the league MVP under the right circumstances, you should give up your ego, just like our own Big 3 did.

Kobe wont give up his ego....right now he has 2 of the best big men in the league and hes chucking up 30-40shots a night.

he still is a great player, dont get me bwrong..but That lakers team would be alot better if the offense was run through the bigs with Kobe deferring alot more

Just imagine Pierce, Rondo and Howard with Ray and KG off the bench and taking 2 or 3 more titles and breaking away from LA in the champs tally.

Yep , LA for now is still Kobes team. Who ever comes to LA is second fiddle amd second stud on that team.  That was part of why I wondered "IF" Kobe was willing to play CP3 ball. Both are guards with big egos.  

Believe Howard wouldn't want to be bossed around the court by Kobe , that probally would get old.  Gasol is a good whipping boy for Kobe to mistreat.  

Moreover....just look at the BIG picture... look at ALL the SUperstars at LA now ...you have Griffin, CP4 , Kobe, ECT all wanting the headlines in the SAME stupid building.

If Howard goes to just about anywhere else ........he is "KING" of the whole city.  It will be his team and glory.

In LA ...Howard is just another big fish in a pond of big fish.

I'd also read that Dwight doesn't want to be seen as a copycat of Shaq.

It will be interesting, seeing whether his coming decision to join the Nets will pay off.  I'll be very surprised if he goes anywhere else.

Two questions with that:

1.  How good is a core of Howard + Deron + Brooks + lottery pick; and

2.  What happens to Brook Lopez?

We know Doc has been trying to get Howard here for a while...let's hope this kind of stuff helps.

I still find it hard to believe that these superstars have no interest in trying to add to the legacy of the best franchise in the sport. Especially if the money is there....
