Simple premise:  Assume Kobe falls out with the Lakers and demands a trade (preferably after a failed 2012 campaign!), then gets traded to an Eastern Conference team and somehow that team ends up in the finals AGAINST the Lakers the following season.

Most of us dislike Kobe and the Lakers, so where would your rooting interest lie in such a situation and why?

Kobe. As much as I dislike him, the situation ultimately comes down to Boston having more banners than the Lakers -- they must never, EVER have more than us again.

I get this, but that does mean having to root for Kobe.

I still think the Minneapolis titles shouldn't count...and while we're at it, neither should 2010!

Once Kobe is not a Laker, he is just another guy to me.

Agree. People in L.A. don't give a rat's behind about Minnesota or its people, and if the Celtics ever moved, I wouldn't want the people in that particular city going around saying, "We're the 17-time champs!" No, you're not; the Boston Celtics are 17-time champs, but the Boise Celtics or the Buffalo Celtics aren't. The Minneapolis Lakers WERE 5-time champs; the Los Angeles Lakers ARE 11-time champs. End of discussion.

I don't care how many banners Kobe raises in his living room. Truth is, Kobe is an all-time great and I would have no problem with his legacy if it wasn't with the Lakers.
