Wish him best for his recovery.

I would like to gamble on Oden if the price is right. Maybe $5 or lower qualifying offer would do this summer.

future celtic. people talking about oden in past tense are clearly uninformed. its a cleaning operation, nothing more.

I don't know about "clearly uninformed".  Maybe "drawing negative, if reasonable, conclusions".  I didn't see a lot of reasons for optimism in that article.  It was basically "first we clean the right knee, then maybe the left, and we really have no idea what the next step is".

Just another example of the elderly sucking up precious health care dollars in this country?

I hope he dose what Grant Hill did and find the right Doctor and get his knees right. Feel bad for the guy. And he's not greedy by taking money off the original contract. Something you don't see much of these days.

With the cap space freedom this coming season the C's could take a chance if the price is low enough. It really shouldn't be too high now. One year, see how it goes, knees hold up, then maybe a bigger contract. But Im sure there will be plenty of teams willing to do the same.

I mean how can you NOT take a chance on Oden if the price is right?  I'd want Danny to do it just as an ultimate "LOL" about losing the 08 draft.   "LOL... missed out on Oden, became a contender for 3 years... still nabbed Oden in his mid 20s" ... How amazingly ridiculous would it be if Oden actually went on to have a healthy and successful career playing for Boston.  It's the ultimate pipe dream after "Dwight Howard" if you ask me.  Sign both.  Twin Towers!

Dude, has never played any length at all.   It would have to be vet minumum.

There's no way that not one NBA team would be willing to throw at least the MMLE of $2.5m on Oden this summer.  I'm guessing that he either stays loyal to Portland and signs a team friendly deal of 2/$7m, or signs with a center desperate team for more money, like 2/$9m.

agreed.  He's big and still has potential.  someone will throw MLE money at him to take a chance.  I wouldn't mind Danny taking a shot at him on a make-good contract next year.
