there was some understandable wondering about why Greg Dickerson was missing time over the last several months and now we know why

here's hoping he gets the right treatment and can cope with this as best as he can

Quote
For him to miss a significant amount of time, as he has this season, viewers might presume it was because of a serious matter.

It was. Two days before the Celtics’ Christmas Day opener in New York, Dickerson suffered a major seizure. After meeting with neurologists and other doctors, he was diagnosed with epilepsy. Upon returning to the sideline, he suffered a second, milder seizure Jan. 18 as the Celtics hosted the Raptors and had to leave the game.

“It’s been tough,’’ said Dickerson. “I deal with other neurological illnesses that I live through. It’s not like it completely came out of the blue. Still, it was . . .

“I’m not much of a hospital person, and to have an attack at a game, that was especially frightening. It’s kind of good to know what it is, that I can get medicated for it and take care of myself.’’

Best wishes to him.

There is no cure for it but it can be managed with meds.

I love Dickerson... Underrated sports guy, I think taking the sideline job was a bad move for his career...

I could be wrong, but i was watching a pre-game show recently and it looked like he might have had an episode ON camera. He hasn't really been around since. Can anyone confirm this, or am I crazy?

  • Rondo = Good
Hopefully it can be managed with medication.  If it can, it doesn't have to be a big deal.

Having a seizure is definitely scary for the person and everyone around, though.

I've always enjoyed Greg's sideline reporting.  Nice chemistry with Mike & Tommy as well.

Hope he can get back in the mix soon.

I unfortunately lost my father to an epileptic seizure. It's incredibly unpredictable and scary.

Also, the medication required to mitigate the risk of seizure for epileptics can be draining.

My thoughts are with Greg. When he returns to the sideline, my respect and admiration for him will be greatly enhanced.

I look forward to seeing him soon!
