"On the block" actually means more than just available.  It means on the auction block--or clearly up for sale.  (Granted, Danny'd be selective with some pretty high minimums before putting some of them up for bids.)

Haha, this is probably true.  Although if we ever get a superstar like a Griffin or a LeBron or a Durant or something, I'm sure he'll be off limits.

I also wonder how much of this is actually what Ford's hearing and how much of this is speculation based on Ainge's infamous comments about the original Big Three. 

Because everyone in the media loves to talk about how the Celtics can't afford to let the Big Three get old and get nothing for them.  However, few actually have any good suggestions about what we should do. 

And that should be very telling about why the Big Three are still together: it's theoretically great to trade them for the next pieces of the puzzle; however, when it comes to actually doing it, it's a totally different story.
