Okay, so I know I'm opening myself to being blasted, but he's a FA this year correct?

If you were DA and he could be had on the cheap, would you sign him in the hopes you could bring out at least some of the player he was meant to be?

I just find it hard to believe he will/could never be a contributor....I know him sitting on the bench might be proof enough but surely he's just been given up on?

Maybe I'm too nice and optimistic? haha

As long as we come out of this summer with a starting center

option A++ D Howard

options B Hibbert, Asik, Magee, etc

If we don't end up with a big man in the draft (tyler zeller,Leonard, fab melo) then it wouldn't hurt to take a shot for cheap on thabeet. He and Steimsma and battle it out in camp next year. If brought in for cheap enough he is a no lose and bigs (especially really big ones) are notoriously slow to develop.

I'd rather offer Nenad Krstic enough money so that he is willing to exercise his $1 million buy-out clause to return to the NBA for the 2012-2013 season.  (That assumes no big contract acquisition that requires the Celtics to renounce their Bird rights on Krstic.)

I liked Nenad but only as a backup and the way we are going we wont be paying 29year olds decent money to be back ups next year.

Yes, I am a fan. I still believe Thabeet can be a good NBA player.

I'd happily bring him on board as a long term project who needs major minutes to develop.

depends on what else we can get.  I wouldn't dump Steimsma to sign him-->steamer seems a heck of a lot more motivated that Thabeet and that makes a big difference in development

If we're in rebuilding mode he'd be worth a look to see if he can develop into a quality NBA center.

Yeah, but it's kind of telling that Steimsma is far more accomplished at this point. Granted he's a lot older I think, but still

The young bigs on our roster developed under Clifford Ray.  If he was still with the C's, I'd say maybe.  But Ray isn't.

As long as we don't have to listen to Donny gush over him, then I would at least give him a look.  But it all depends on the price.

I'd love to bring in Robert Parish to replace Clifford Ray.

Former pupil of Ray's. Excellent footwork, economy of movement and big man fundamentals as a pro. Runs basketball clinics for big men alongside Clifford Ray in the offseason. Interested in coaching in the NBA.

I think Parish would make a great big man coach. For the life of me, I cannot understand why he doesn't have a coaching job in the NBA.
