We are BARELY not in last place in the NBA in rebounding. If this doesnt change then none of this talk matters at all. You cant win anything consistently when you do that, and you definitely cant win in the playoffs. We can hope things/people get better, but if this stat stays the same then we might as well blow this thing up. What trade ideas do people have to improve our rebounding?!

we've been in the bottom 5-10 in rebounding the last 3 years this should come as no surprise, but should be an indicator that the c's should be willing to trade KG, Bass, Ray and others for low post help .

Not that they could really get anything worth while ...

Its because Doc doesnt care about offensive rebounds... He doesnt have the team crash the boards, he tells them to get back on full fledged defense....

Man I would love to have Gerald Wallace as our 6th man. Rebound who can swing to the four in a small ball line up. No bait we have could bring him in though. Been my pipe dream since his Kings days and hes only gotten much much better since then.

No no. Lebron didn't win any rings with him, so he must not be that good

Fine, 24th in defensive boards.  And most likely 27th after tonight's dismal performance. Sort by DIFF and our -2.6 puts us in a veritable who's who of nobodies.  Seven boards COMBINED tonight from KG/JO.

We clearly need a center. I've haven't seen a more obvious basketball move in my life. I really hope this is not a Mikki Moore year because the Cs are a center away from being a legit contender this year.

A lot of teams are floundering right now and beset with injuries. The Cs could definitely pounce. I just hope Danny realizes how good this team is and isn't so focused on the future that he lets what we have now miss out on a serious playoff run.

I'm worried because he talks so much about what choices Red made. The reality is that this current squad is right on the edge of being a contender but moves need to be made.

The problem is that a lot of teams are a legit center away from being good.  The position is so weak that guys like Dalembert and Deandre Jordan get paid big bucks and Nene earns the max.  In short, it's really hard to get a legit center unless you have big bucks to spend or a assets to trade.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
We've been without Rondo for a while which probably bumps us a few spots back on this chart.
Isn't he the leading rebounding PG in the NBA? (or top 3?)

We are in a unique position because of our defensive power.
We defend so well that we bring opponents down to our rebounding numbers.
ie: the Magic or Pacers dominate good to average teams with rebounding because their opponents give them second shot opportunities in the paint.
When they play us, they face a different beast because we don't let them get those opportunities.
We are the 3rd best defensive team in the NBA, letting our opponents shoot much less and thus rebound much less than the league average.

These things even each other out in a lot of cases.
Good case would be the Clippers, who are ranked 26th in the league in defense, and ranked 5th overall in the power rankings.
I could make the title of a similar thread saying: WE ARE GOING FOR THE GLORY, OUR OFFENSE HAS BEEN STAGNANT BUT WE ARE STILL THE 3RD BEST DEFENSIVE TEAM IN THE NBA, WAIT TILL WE GET RONDO AND OUR OFFENSIVE FLOW GOING!
30% into the season is probably too early to make a judgement call like this.

But yes I do agree with the notion that more rebounding would be great for us. I just don't think our lack of rebounding so far is as bad as you think it is.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Which means Verajao had more offensive boards than KG & JO had total rebounds combined.

Defensive rebound percentage is a more relevant stat. RPG is too strongly influenced by page. The differential is bad, especially considering that our opponents average more FG attempts than us per game and shoot 30 percentage points lower than us. That means there are a lot more defensive rebound opportunities for us than for our opponents, yet they still out-rebound us.

I was gonna go for the same thing. Yep, if were almost last on rebounding we aint going nowhere.

BAsic. Rebounds = less likely the opponents score points. Something needs to be done in the rebounding.
