Turned on last night's game at the start of the 4th quarter with Thunder up nine in time to see Westbrook throw up three forced bricks.....very disappointing ....he takes more shots than Durant

Perkins is making the trade look better all the time.....5 points 2 rebounds.

On the other hand, the Spurs look like a Celtics team from years ago....a couple of stars and the rest role players

Making the trade look better all the time? I don't know how you can say that when Jeff Green is sidelined, Krystic is overseas, and our pick from the Clips fell into the 20's.

Edit: not that I think the celtics would be a lost cause against okc, but at the level we limped out of the Philly series, we need to show something to get on OKC's level

If this year has shown anything, it is that this team plays down or up to it's competition.

Now, I'm not sure how much that matters now with all our injuries, but they have done it all year.

I don't know if we can get by the Heat or either the Spurs or Thunder. But I know we will put up a good series against the Heat, and if we make it past them, we will put up a good fight against whoever wins the west.

Ibaka  7 ppg
Perk   4 ppg

That is horrible for a starting PF/C tandem . I know that Westbrook, Durant and Harden are their go to guys and they should be, but they have no one they can throw it down low to and get a score when they need an easy bucket ( also helps get the opposing teams in foul trouble) . I don't see them getting by LAL, Lac and maybe Memphis (Rudy Gay didn't play in the playoff series last year and Memphis still pushed them pretty hard).

They need to try and move Ibaka IMO

Maybe Ibaka or Perk and Reggie Jackson could land them a legit scoring PF or C? Big Al would be a great fit I think.

Big Al is never going to be able to play for a championship contender... i dont understand peoples infatuation with him. He will always be a mediocre to above average scorer on a mediocre to below average team. Celtics trade him, we get out of the gutter and win a championship, Minny trades him they  get out of the gutter and would have made the playoffs if not for a couple key injuries.

Ibaka is actually a legit offensive threat but he just doesnt get enough touches to prove it. His low post game isnt really all that great but he has a nice little 15 - 20 foot jumper and is great with garbage and hustle points... Its hard to find offense when your two top players take the 2nd and third most shots per game in the NBA. add Harden taking about 12 a game their system really doesnt call for a low post option currently.

have to agree.  C's right now have nothing to show for that trade except the 22nd pick in the upcoming draft where they could only hope the player they get is a starting-quality center.

Put Perk on this team right now and we're not sweating having an ineffective Hollins or injured Stiemsma on the court.  Heck, I'd be thrilled if Danny had managed to keep Krispy from going to Europe.  He'd be providing a solid NBA player at the center position.

next year I may be feeling differently if Green resigns and plays well and Danny drafts a really good player with the pick.  (bringing back Krispy for the bench wouldn't suck either.)

I was looking at Perks career stats last night. Stats aren't everything and are often misleading but really what they got with Perk was a superb teammate, leadership and low post d. He was never an offensive guy and more than ever he isn't scoring, isn't rebounding much, isn't blocking shots, Ibaka of course is. We could use him but for us to avoid his contract, get a first rounder and also a healthy Jeff Green, well that was a decent enough trade. The mistake we made was in not having a young athletic guy who was tough minded and could guard the post to step in for him right away. DA should have been drafting young bigs. There have been some guys available that would have worked. I would guess we get one this year finally but it should have been done a few years ago

The Celtics would have never re-signed Perkins at the dollars he is presently making.  Now sure if he would have taken less money, he would be very useful, but they weren't going to sign a role player for the dollars he is getting.  It was never going to happen.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Given the current situation or giving Perkins stupid money, 4 for $36 large, I'll take the current situation seven days a week and twice on Sunday.

Don't sweat it. Perkins will be available one of these days after OKC amnesties him to sign Harden and Ibaka next year.

If not ... good old Serge would look dandy in Green.

Plus, Al couldn't defend a chair.

He's never going to play a major role on a contender. Ever.

I think it made the trade look better in that Celtics didn't have to pay 8 mill a year for Perk when he is no where near worth that contract

OKC needed someone to defend Bynum.  Unfortunately Bynum is not the kind of player you make a trade to defend....Lebron is.

There is no way Ainge was going to pay Perkins 8 million a year for a multiyear deal, which is why he made the trade to begin with. Yea, the pick fell to the 20's, but it's a deep draft and we still have to see who we land with it. Also, Green will be back, and is still very young.
