I have no doubt in my mind that Perk would be putting up better stats if he were in Boston Celtic Green.

1.) We got Rondo, not Westbrook

2.) The Big 3 are way too unselfish...sometimes to a fault and leads to turnovers.

Those 2 factors alone will give Perk more opportunities for scoring.

3.) We are not the greatest rebounding team ever.

Perk would probably be getting 1 or 2 more rebounds per game if he were still in Celtic green.

I agree that Perk would probably have better numbers on this team due to more shot opportunities and more rebounding opportunities.  I don't think he'd actually play all that much better, though.

If either Lebron or Durant develop a post game then they become truly unstoppable.

With Durant length and the fact that he has put on weight he should start playing more on the block. He is 6'10 230 usually teams play a SF on him because he is on the perimeter. Much like Dirk did he needs to abuse the SFs by posting them up. Make other teams either double him or play him with a Big.

Image Durant using a hook shot...who could defend him?

About all Perk can do is fill up the post area with his bulk and make SMALL guys pay for drivng the lane. His few put back are hardly an inside scoring threat.
OKC is going to have a hard time paying all the young superstars they have now and keep them .

I'd send Perk, Ibacka, Hardin to the Magic for Howard .

The thunder when they acquired perk were counting on the further development of both harden and ibaka offensively. Harden has shown up and as a result you see a better team thenlast season. After talking to my friends who still work with okc the consensus is that serge hasn't evolved as they hoped. It's something that the organization is disappointed by. In my own opinion I think serge has until he trade deadline of next year. Okc is still focused on development. A championship is not the be all end all this year,  but harden will get paid. They really like serge too but they understand that they cant extend him if this all they are getting from the four after they committed so much to perk. They see a lot of potential in serge.  Yet they will move him if they don't seen more evolution to his game in a year from now. His potential is why they gave perk the contract he got and they know their realistic title chances depend on him providing a consistent 15 ppg.

He's one of the better defensive bigs in the league. That might not count for much to some, but it makes a difference in the standings.

30 from Durant
20 from Westbrook
11 from the bigs
10 or so from Harden
10-20 from the bench
I guess I'm forgetting some people since that only adds up to 81, but my point would've been that they're offense is amazing. You're welcome.

Can't we just bring Gerald Green back?

Yes they can score, but like I said , most of it comes from perimeter players . If they don't improve point production from the PF or C spot they aren't going to win a title IMO . I mean Brandon Bass is averaging more than their starting PF/C combined. They are very good ,but not championship level until they get a big man who can at least finish around the basket or has a consistent mid range jumper.

They average over 100 points a night so far this season. They also averaged over 100 points a night last year both in the regular season and the playoffs. I think the offense is doing just fine. Do they need to score 110 points per game to win a title?

Where they need to improve is on the defensive side of the ball. They fouled too more than any team in the playoffs last year and gave up a bunch of FTs as a result.

OKC gets about 20 points a game from their top 4 bigs (Serge, Perk, Collison, Nazr).

The 95-96 Bulls won 72 regular season games with its top 4 bigs at about 23 ppg (Longley, Rodman, Wennington, Simpkins).  That team scored just over 105 points a game with almost all coming from the perimeter (jordan at 30, pippen at 20, and kukoc at 13 - no one else in double figures).  In the playoffs they had essentially three bigs, Longley at 8.3, Rodman at 7.5, and Wennington at 3.0.  Salley played in 16 of the 18 games and averaged just under 1 point a game, and would probably be considered the 4th big.  The Bulls did play small a fair amount with Kukoc playing with Pippen and Jordan a fair amount, but Kukoc was definitely a SF for most of the season.  The same held fairly consistent in each of hte next two title teams for the Bulls.

I guess the point is, if your perimeter is good enough you can win a title without much post offense just like the Bulls did three straight times.

yea , If you have the best perimeter player of all time, another top 50 player of all time( and great defensive player of all time ) and have one of the best low post defenders/rebounders of all time then you do probably have a chance to win a title .....

What about having a guy who could wind up a top 10-20 player all time at SF, a star PG and a fringe-star SG, and good low post defense?

yup , like I said with no low post threat on offense the Thunder can't win a title ;)

I know it's only one game , but they have no low post threat at all .

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Okc would run through the celtics and the heat like a hot knife through butter right now.

They lost one game, on the road, by what...3 points?

Edit: not that I think the celtics would be a lost cause against okc, but at the level we limped out of the Philly series, we need to show something to get on OKC's level
