Can we stop with the playoff talk?

After we play Cleveland, we get a present of 5 more straight home games.  At that point we'll have played 25 games, 17 at home against predominantly bad teams----and we, at least as of now, have a losing record.
From that point on, we play 41 more games, 25 of which are on the road, against predominantly good teams! That bodes REAL UGLY!!!
Starting to see a little crack of friction here, with PP and Doc.  Not good!
Could see interesting time around trade deadline, unless we become road warriors and make a remarkable turn around!
Personally I don't see it, and believe Danny probably pretty convinced too, by now.  Doc doing everything he can to hold it together, but the pieces just aren't there!

Im not sure if anybody here thought the celts would win the title this year.  People need to just enjoy the ride.  Enjoy watching moments of brilliance with these players which will be mixed in with more minutes of tired and slow legs.  This team is what it is, we will make the playoffs, maybe win a round and then say goodbye. 

But look on the brightside, we are in line for two middle of the road draft picks in a very deep draft.

The strength of opponents is more or less going to be the same going forward compared to the games we have already played.  We've already played IND 3x, ORL 2x, OKC, DAL, MIA, CHI; that's 9 games so half our games have been against quality teams.

But I do agree the weight towards road games might be an issue.

The East is so weak that the Celtics are basically locked into the 7th seed despite being very up and down and overall a pretty mediocre team.

If they were in the West, there's no chance they'd make the playoffs.

I think this is correct. They still should be able to score a 5th - 7th seed, because the east stinks.

More importantly, can we stop with the "can we stop with the" talk? Never mind that Pierce would have to get hit by a bus for this team to miss the playoffs, I don't see what the problem is with people being optimistic about their team's chances.

In fact, since we've got only one "Positivity" thread, we should do a "Vent here (Celts lost again)" thread instead of having a new "Sky is falling" thread each time we lose. It gets old to see two or three "negative"/"realist" threads every [dang] time we lose a game. We're going to lose some, you know? No draws or ties in basketball, folks.

I'd gladly do a thread solely for the purpose of letting people vent and when (or if) I start a thread, I will promise to stay away from it. What do the mods say? Totally crazy idea or what?

I guess my response to that is pretty much the same as before:

Take this season 1 3 minute quadrent at a time, look for improving trends, and see where we are at the end of April 26, 2012. According to the ESPN standings - We are 7th in the EC and would play against Chicago in Round 1. Cleveland is 8th and would play against Miami in Round 1 (Isn't that a hoot?).

So the way I see it is that the top five teams are solid. We are in a battle with Orlando (Fading Quickly), Cleveland and Milwaukee (Both Improved), New York (Underachieving worse than us), and Toronto (long shot) for the last three spots.

I think February is a CRITICAL month for the Celtics and can easily decide our fate not only this season but for the next five seasons. If we continue to flounder in February, we will see unwelcome changes to Celtic personnel in March that signals an end to the Paul Pierce Era (and possibly Rajon Rondo, too).

I personally don't care if there are twenty sky-is-falling threads after a bad beat. Mods will merge them if it gets excessive/redundant. I just don't like it when someone suggests that I can't talk about the Celtics making the playoffs. Like, really? This seems like a pretty uncontroversial aspiration for a fan to have for their team.
