  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I'd definitely put him on a Celtics rebuilding team.

I bet Ricky Davis and Gabe Pruitt would be interested in returning to Boston as well. Doesn't make them worth the roster spot. Erden can't even get on the floor for the Cavs.

Maybe as a guy who shows up to most games in a suit, but not a rotation-player.
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Point Guard: Anfernee Hardaway, Fat Lever, Terrell Brandon
Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe
Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka

The Cavs wouldn't do that, though. If Boston were to put Ray on the market, they'd probably find some takers, but it's not going to be teams that are rebuilding. If a team like the Cavs went after Ray, they'd offer peanuts compared to what teams like the Bulls would offer, because Ray is not going to fit into their future plans.

Unless they were trying to unload Andy's contract, but I'm not sure what their plans are.

the reason the cav's should do it is they'll get two expiring contracts and a first round pick it would allow them to sign some good free agents

Oh, we're giving Cleveland a 1st rounder in that scenario? That's a little better, then. I still think a contender is more likely to pursue Ray, as would a team that is actually trying to get into position for this free agent class. Cleveland isn't likely to be a reasonable home for Dwight Howard or Deron Williams, so I still think a team with a genuine need for a guy like Allen. As it is, Allen is more useful to Boston than most other teams, when you consider the overall lack of outside shooting this team has.

if Erden is the center we've been waiting all year to sign, we are in trouble.  yeah he played pretty well for us, but don't forget, this could very well be a guy who would see JO's mins come playoff time if (when?) JO goes down.  i would hope we could find a better option.

what ever happened to Pryzbilla???

I really liked Erden when he was here. He brought good energy, played long around the basket and was physical inside. Don't forget, we played some very, very good basketball early in the season with Shaq and Erden as our primary rotation at center while Perk and Jermaine were out with injuries.

I would definitely take him on as a 3rd string center project on a rebuilding team.

Minimal interest in bringing Erden back.

I'd rather keep Stiemsma around and see if we can improve his fundamentals. Make better use of that mobility / athleticism and turn into a well-rounded defensive player. I think he might be able to become a Joel Anthony type prospect. Gradual improvements year after year and blossoming into a quality player. Given some time and coaching.

Giving away Erden to make roster space for Murphy was a bigger mistake than trading Perk/Nate for Krstic/Green. Of course, the outcoming of the Perk trade has hurt the team more, but at the time nobody would know if Perk was going to come back healthy, or Green's heart condition.

Erden>>>>Stiemsma

Semih was playing with an injured shoulder, and he still managed to be the second best Center for the Celtics last season, after Shaq.

I'd rather start Semih than Stiemsma, letting JO come from the bench. In fact, I'll send Stiemsma + our future (top-55 protected)2nd round picks from the Kings  ::)

Would Cleveland send us Semih back? Well, according to the article and what Sherrod said during the timeout, Semih is in Scott's doghouse.

And maybe Stiemsma is a better fit in Cleveland, after all
