Recent Quote Doc Rivers:
“(The reserves) just play as hard as they can. Literally I’ve simplified it to three sets. That’s all we’re running, and that way they can function. That makes it easier for them.”

It makes me furious when i hear about the Celtics having an offensive game plan that has 60 plays and 4 to 5 options on each play.  Is it even possible to be a player that can play more than one position and follow such a system?

I also remember Doc cutting our playbook in half right before the play offs last year.  It was supposed to help the team get on the same page.  My argument is keep it simple and have every one on the same page to begin with. Don't let it reach that point where we have to erase half a playbook as a coach.

I also remember Red Aurbach's popular saying "Keep it simple".  I think Red would agree with me about keeping our playbook small and compact, and our execution of our gameplan near perfection.

In my opinion Doc's confusing gameplan's have gotten the Celtics in trouble in the past.

Thoughts?

The offense has been moving much smother and the ball is moving better. And they aren't waiting for one player(Ray Allen) to get open for 15 seconds.

I like them getting it over, getting it to a player right away, and moving it fast. Makes the D on the other team have to move and it opens lanes up for PP. Thats how Rondo needs to run the team, think about how many lay ups him and PP will get doing it this way.

"Keep it Simple" is just a great way of doing every thing in life. Cars are more complecated than ever and they last half as long and when one thing goes, half the other car goes as well. Why wouldn't it translate to basketball as well?

Ray Allen running off screens for 15 seconds is not fun to watch.  I love to see Ray's jumper, but these screens only result in a jumper 50 percent of the time.  If he doesn't get free, we see ray allen covered with the ball behind the 3 point line and only 6 seconds left on the shot clock.

I wish we only used this set when we are struggling offensively and can't figure out what to do, or if we are intent on slowing the game down.  Instead we use this set all the time and it just seems odd to have your fastest player Rondo watch the oldest player Ray run around the court for 15 seconds.
