"I am going to play -- one day. Maybe like next -- hopefully before All-Star Break," said Rondo. That’s my goal, to come back before All-Star. I’m going to try to get February, like my birthday, like before Oklahoma."

im not surprised.  seeing the fall/injury, i wouldn't label it a "sore wrist" and thought it was kinda humorous that the team said that.  probably sprained. or...rondo is having fun with media again

I like how we're 4/0 without Rondo!

Don't forget the Phoenix game.  Still, very impressive.

But wait. Dr. Ainge said he was fine the night of the injury.

Me too. If the guys can maintain that level of play after Rondo and Ray come back we're title contenders again.

True, although phrases like "hopefully before" and "that's my goal" certainly don't suggest that Rondo will be back significantly before the mentioned dates.

  • Rondo = Good
Between this season and last season, I think it might be time to start wondering if Rondo is "injury prone."

He didn't miss a ton of games last season, but he was severely hobbled by plantar fascitis for the second half of the season, and then there was the elbow injury in the playoffs.

I shudder to think how many games Rondo would miss if he weren't such a tough guy with the ability to play through these injuries.

He reminds me of AI in size and speed. Iverson took a beating for many years, getting knocked to the floor routinely by guys over 100 pounds heavier. But not even he would get leveled as hard as Rondo does sometimes. Rondo takes some nasty landings and unfortunately these types of injuries will occur. It's just a matter of how frequent.

If we're calling someone who played in 94% of all possible games over his first 5 years "injury prone" you're going to have a hard time coming up with players that *aren't* injury prone.

Players get hurt. This does not mean that there is an inherent property that they possess called being 'injury prone'. Sometimes is just happens.

Guys who are legitimately injury prone are guys with chronic issues like Yao Ming, Quis (hopefully surgery helped), TJ Ford, or Brandon Roy or guys who play in such a way that they often get hurt like Gerald Wallace or Delonte West.

Wallace, for example, is not at all brittle. He just lays his body out so often that he is more likely to get hurt. It is possible that Rondo could end up that way due to his affinity for fully extending his body in the lane against mush heavier players.
