the guy who really needs to be called out is SVG. he has a team full of weapons, the most dominant big man in the league, and they get embarrassed constantly. their playbook basically consists of dribble penetration to open up 3 point shots. if you stop the penetration (see bradley, avery) then you stop their offense. i think you could be much more productive with the talent they have on the team.

when the team unraveled and started getting techs in the 4th quarter, he did nothing to reel his guys in. between that, and dwights nightly press conferences about which team he'll go to or which one of his teammates is letting everyone down, it shows that he just has no control of his team.

Just want to unpack this a little bit. More than a few problems with this post. Lots of hyperbole.

The Magic do not get embarrassed constantly. They've been an excellent team for years, despite a GM who is mostly clueless and who has built a bad roster. That includes this year. Their success is to SVG and D12's credit.

Their offense is also not dribble penetration to open up threes. It's more post play to open up threes, combined with a pnr attack. Bradley isn't the reason Boston shut down Orlando. It was more about team defense in the halfcourt as much as anything else. And Bradley didn't have much to do with the win in Orlando.

SVG did nothing to reel his guys in? Prove it.

What exactly should SVG do to stop D12 from wanting out? Is it possible that's an issue between Dwight and the Magic, rather than his coach? Can you provide links to these nightly press conferences or are you just reacting to saturation media coverage?

^ Avery Bradley  at least gets credit for taking so much time off the clock. Orlando sets up their halfcourt offense with 8-10 seconds gone when he goes full-court pressure.

I understand Dwight's frustrated, but he should never rip teammates in public. The team and organization doesn't deserve that.

Yell, scream, whatever - but do it in the lockerroom, not for the media. That won't make it better.

NOH's a scrappy team...I mean, they beat US by 19...

Bird ripped his team in public. There comes a time when it's appropriate. If Turkoglu is on your team, that time comes regularly, I'd imagine.

Usually not a big deal except for the fact that Howard is probably leaving town so teammates might not listen to him as much as they would otherwise.

Fair point, for sure.

Well, there's two things here...first of all, for me - it STILL doesn't make it right, whether it was Bird, Michael, Dwight, whoever.

The second reason this is unnecessary? This just places even MORE attention on him and that team....with his very vocal (and unprofessional) trade demands here over the last few months, this episode doesn't help it.

Stan Van Gundy doesn't deserve it, his team doesn't deserve it (PUBLICLY) and the organization doesn't deserve it.

That's my stand on it.

Oh, we might not want him because he is prickly.
