After the Magic's loss to the Hornets:

Quote
“Looked like guys didn’t want to play,” he said. “I told them at halftime, if you don’t want to play, just stay in the lockerroom. It doesn’t make sense for a teams we should beat to just demolish us.

“You bring everything down,” Howard said, referring to a player who isn’t playing with heart and soul.

“It hurts me to get out there and play your hardest. I expect everybody to play the same. I’m not calling anybody out by no means because we all have to get better … but if you don’t want to be out there, don’t dress up.

“If you don’t want to play, stay home. People work too hard. I want to win a championship. I work too hard every night for anybody to not want to go out there and play hard. … None of the — whatever, trade stuff — none of that stuff matters. Play basketball. That’s why we all get paid to do this, because we love the game and it’s basketball, so why not give it your all.”

Quote
The team we played tonight, they’ve been playing hard all season. They just haven’t won. And then they played hard tonight and they killed us. They killed us because they just played hard and they wanted it. Everybody on that team wanted to win tonight. That’s the only thing that matters,” he said.

“We are winning. You can’t just go out every night and expect a team to just fold because you’re winning, because you’re having a good record.”

I'm curious as to the player he called out specifically.

I bet it's either Turkoglu or J-Rich, both look disinterested out there.

I think that's probably right.  Ryan Anderson wasn't playing, Howard really respects Jameer Nelson, and J.J. Redick and BBD usually seem to hustle.

I know he respects him, but if anyone needs a calling out its Jameer Nelson. He played like an allstar when they went to the finals and he's been a shell of that player just a few years later.

Jameer did admit that the whole Howard situation has affected him.  Must be tough when all Dwight talks about is playing with a good point guard.

But at the same time, it's kinda like the argument about running up the score. If you don't like it, do something about it.

Turtling after someone inadvertantly calls you out doesn't change anybody's opinion of the situation.

Well it looks like there is some hope for him. He's not just a player that wants to play for the glints and glamor of a city.

Howard should just ask to be cut so he can go play for a REAL team. I think we can make some room for him! Play for the MLE this season, sign big next?

I highly doubt Orlando will cut him, but they need to do some thing because he's not coming back.

Every time I start to like him a little bit he just goes out and plays like, and acts like, an idiot.

I'm not really sure I'm interested in Dwight Howard being a Celtic.

Actually, when the Magic went to the Finals they had Rafer Alston running the point throughout most of the playoffs.

I always felt that Rafer kinda got shafted after he did so much for the Magic in their run to the Finals that season.

Exactly. This is the same guy who said he would consider playing with us right after we blew his team out. How do you think that sits with his teammates? These "star players" these days have the maturity level of an adolescent girl

True but wasn't Nelson having an All star season? He either was an all-star or got shafted.

Right now Nelson doesn't even seem like an average pg

Well, he scored 28 points on 64% shooting and his teammates managed 39 points on 32% shooting.  He grabbed 16 boards, his teammates grabbed 20.  He took 17 free throws and his teammates took 4.

The frustration is understandable.
