I don't like Donny Marshall as an analyst I never had and I never will.   Please get a Celtic in there someone that bleeds green and not Donny.
Why, because we have a shortage of blind homerism on CSN?

I completely agree- I've been saying it's the best bench we've ever had. Bass+Pietrus could both start in the NBA on a lot of lower tier teams.
Can you imagine how good our bench would be if we had Jeff Green scoring 12-15 points off the bench for us too?
Bring in Bass+Green+Pietrus to interchange with starters.

I have a feeling Bass will rotate starting at PF regularly soon because he is going to learn the defense off by heart and it will stick- against certain teams we'll use JO, against younger, faster teams we'll use Bass. Doc mentioned something about once he learns the defense he'll be a great defender.
I'm looking forward to it.

I believe he is almost there in terms of learning the defense because he made a great rotation block on paul george last night that they called a foul on but he had all ball.  He is probably the most athletic power forward that we currently have on our team and i believe the he will eventually play a huge role in us signing Dwight Howard this off season if he isn't traded.  GO CELTICS.

Also this is the most athletic bench that we have had in the big 3 era.  But we tend to forget if we didn't have pj brown and sam cassell and tony allen and james posey oh and leon powe and even big baby did work that year. We don't win the only championship in the big 3 era.  So this bench is good but lets not compare to that bench because we won a chip with that bench.

I really love our bench so far.  It doesn't have big star power with Bass and Pietrus seeming like they'll be the two constants, but I am very pleased with the depth so far.

Doc has done a brilliant job getting everyone to contribute when called upon.  I just see a 15 deep Ubuntu feeling with this squad.  It's so nice that everyone's gotten a chance to play and be a factor early in the season.

This is a real team, and I think the depth and unity will help them withstand this compressed season so that our big four can have some energy left in the tank come playoffs.

Count me as a fan who's feeling high on the 2011-2012 Boston Celtics right now.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

For the reasons Roy stated, I'd probably take the bench of 08' cuz I'm not 100% confident in any of these players outside of Bass - a very good bench player, but he doesn't have anywhere near the same value that Posey brought us.

As far as league wide, it's probably near the top but I'd take Denver, Dallas, Philadelphia and Chicago over ours. Probably Minnesota as well.

Sorry but i gotta disagree with this. Saying that in 08 our bench was a championship bench and this one might not be is sooo misleading. The big difference between now and '08 is paul pierce past his prime (even if he's played like it the last 3-4 games), Ray Allen is past  his prime, and KG is wayyyy past his prime. oh and we have no real center. Now of course Rondo's emergence has helped offset that some. But That bench was a championship bench because of our starters

Good God, I can't stand the short-term memory epidemic.  Literally, a week ago this was considered one of the worst benches in the NBA.  They've single handedly caused half of our losses.

It is easy for people to get caught up in the most recent games. A lot of Chicken Littles in sports.

Pietrus, for example, won't always shoot this well. Stiemsma is great illustration of this. Some people feel he already proved his skill set in the first few good games and his poor performances now are the aberrations. It seems more likely to me that he just isn't that good yet. Even Olowakandi had some games for us where he made some incredible passes and I hoped for the best.

They aren't. We have a pretty deep bench, but it's not among the best. In the East I put Philly, Indiana, above us and maybe Milwaukee and Miami too. If you count Jeff Green then you could definitely make the argument for us though  :'(

Haha. Hilarious, but it is also a false dichotomy.

We could have someone like Walt Frazier who is fully a Knick, but who can be critical. Cousy was fully a Celtic, but he could be very critical.

I am not at all anti-Donny, but I understand how some people might view him. He could easily move to covering the Nets and not feel bothered by it. Could you imagine Cousy or Heinson agreeing to cover the Nets? For them, Celtics or neutral (national) would be the only palatable options.

Most teams that have former players doing broadcasts have players who played for that team and are passionate about the team, whether they are homers or look critically at the team's flaws. As much as I can't stand Heinson's homerism and frequent blindness to what actually happened on the floor (as opposed to what he wished happened), I would prefer that his eventual long term replacement is someone who either played for the Celtics or coached the Celtics.

I don't think it's any specific person.

I think he's speaking in generality that if any player plays without heart and soul then it brings everyone down.

This hate on Dwight Howard especially on the Magics board is getting way out of hand.

Nope, because he never was a Celtic.

I never said this isn't a championship bench but look at what that bench did that year in the playoffs they all stepped up.  Tony allen with his defense on everyone from lebron to kobe. powe stepping up in the playoffs versus the lakers pj brown winning playoff games with pure fire.  They are a championship bench because they performed that way in the playoffs and finals.  This bench hasn't done anything yet.  This has nothing to do with paul pierce or kg the i'm talking about the benches.

Tony Allen missed almost the entire year with injuries, when he came back, he never cracked the rotation.  His only moment of note was the alley oop dunk he had in Game 6 against the Lakers, during the blowout of the 4th quarter.
