Donny Marhsall: Celtics bench could be best in NBA

He said that this is the best bench we've had in the big 3 era and that it ''probably could be the best bench in the nba''. Thoughts?

When healthy, I think Chicago's bench is the best.

Dallas' bench might be the most talented: Beaubois, Terry, Odom.

I completely agree- I've been saying it's the best bench we've ever had. Bass+Pietrus could both start in the NBA on a lot of lower tier teams.
Can you imagine how good our bench would be if we had Jeff Green scoring 12-15 points off the bench for us too?
Bring in Bass+Green+Pietrus to interchange with starters.

I have a feeling Bass will rotate starting at PF regularly soon because he is going to learn the defense off by heart and it will stick- against certain teams we'll use JO, against younger, faster teams we'll use Bass. Doc mentioned something about once he learns the defense he'll be a great defender.
I'm looking forward to it.

I said it earlier in preseason our bench could be like the Mavs was last year and come in and be huge but was laughed at were seeing it now

I too think Bass will be starting quite a bit for us this season, though I think that is more due to the fact the Jermaine O'Neal is made of glass and will miss nealy half the games we play this year.

Still Bass is a great bench player and might be in contention of 6th Man of the Year award.

We shall see. I've been happy from what they've shown these 18 games though. It seems many people were down on them when it was the starters playing below average.

If the bench is good enough to bring energy and maintain the flow I'm happy. So far they seem  able to accomplish that. That's a long ways coming from last year's bench who gave up huge leads.

I think it's my fav. Bench from the big 3 era, but we still have nothing on the mavs IMO.

I don't give two farts about what Donny Marshal says. His opinion is as valid as mine or anyone on CB. IMO, this bench is solid/decent. It has solid talent at 4-9, but it lacks depth. That is unless Moore and Stiemsa continue to play well and Bradley maintains an acceptable level of play.

im not sure about that, we're currently playing without 3 starters and beating playoff calibar teams.

Moore, steimsa, bradley are all essentially rookies who tend to  improve/get better the more playing time they get...i was almost sure this would be a 3 game losing streak without Rondo, ray, dooling etc.

probably, the best thing these wins can do is convince Doc that he can rely on guys like bradley/moore,stiemsa down the road and use a 10-11man rotation during the regular season to keep our guys fresh

  I don't know if it is the best bench in the NBA or the best bench in the Big Three era but it is one heck of a bench considering what Danny Ainge had to work with.

The _bench_ lacks depth? That's a new one. What did you expect, a team that can go 15 deep without loss of quality? Come on now, let's be realistic.

I don't know.  The only guy we can consistently rely on, I think, is Bass.  He's a stud bench player.  Pietrus should be pretty solid, and he was a great addition.  The other guys have shown that they're all prone to wild swings of inconsistency.  Now, if Wilcox can start contributing regularly, and one of our young combo guards makes a bit of a leap, then yeah, it's a pretty dang good bench.

I don't like Donny Marshall as an analyst I never had and I never will.   Please get a Celtic in there someone that bleeds green and not Donny.

He is usually not prone to such hyperbole.  But I just don't care for his analysis as everything he says is obvious.  There is no breadth of knowledge demonstrated and his fashion sense ( that shirt last night gave Craig Sager a run for his money) is abyssmal.

So far our bench save Bass has been all over the place.   Bradley can't make a shot outside of two feet and get's blocked half the time.   Dooling is hurt all the time.   Moore shows promise but is a rook.  JJJ is spindly and a rook.   Greg is wonderboy at help defense shot blocking but can't defend the post or anyone coming out at him.  These parts are all up in the air.  Pietrus has been solid thus far and Bass has been good.  Wilcox shows signs of being worth the three mil we spent on him but was MIA ( missing in action) prior to this week.
