Tough loss for the Bucks. But Bogut seems to be made of glass.

BTW, Celtics own their 2012 2nd rounder, as long as it ends up being the 45th pick or later. So this injury, should it derail the Bucks' season, could end up costing Boston the pick.

With or without Bogut they are in the lottery therefore the pick will be top 44.

He's had a bunch of productive years so I'd hardly call him a bust.  It was just unlucky that he can't stay healthy.  A bust is a guy with high expectations who fails to come anywhere close to them; say a Kwame Brown.

Couldn't agree more. There is a big difference between a guy with proven talent who breaks down and a guy who simply cannot play at the level everyone thought he would.

I would say the caveat here is if a player is so frequently injured that they cannot be a reliable contributor at all, they are still a bust even if they play fairly well when they are able to play.  See: Oden, Greg.

I made the point earlier that you should factor in who the guy was taken over. It's an opportunity cost.

That's kind of silly though, unless thre was another surefire winner in the draft (ala Darko-Melo).

Bogut's got 1 all-star caliber season, and 2 freak injuries after that. I'd saw that while in hindsight (injuries included) he's been the fifth, maybe even sixth best player in the draft, at the time he looked to be like a heck of a player, and a more reliable choice. Turns out Chris Paul and Deron Williams are awesome.

TP for economics.

Also, I think the player's actual talent when healthy and the type of injuries is important.  Bill Walton was useless on the bench, but an MVP when healthy.  Bogut, obviously, doesn't compare in that regard.  More on the JO level (another player whose career was limited significantly by injuries).

But that doesn't make them busts on par with taking Kwame Brown #1.  I'm not even sure he's really a bust as much as a stupid pick.  Should've traded down at least...

Again. I feel sad from Bogut he just doesn't seem to get healthy. Im wondering if he'll ever have a healthy season. The guy is an 18-12 dude.

Although, it's someone of a blessing for me, as Ilyasova will get more PT (he's in my fantasy league).
