"E'Twaun Moore keeps on looking better and better. Heck, he may stay as a celtic for a long period in his career." - Danny Ainge

Celtics Shooting Guard E'Twaun Moore #55
Senior year: 21.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists

Here is some info on Moore from draft express.  I admit I did not know much about him when we drafted him as a co-worker of mine raved about him.

Situational Statistics: the 2011 Wing Crop
June 22, 2011
E'Twaun Moore grades out well statistically, as his 1.0 PPP overall ranks fourth of all wings, and he's doing it on an impressive 17.6 possessions per game. Moore is the most sure-handed of all wings, as his 9.2% TO% is easily best in the class, especially for someone using that many possessions.

Moore is excellent in the pick-and-roll, where his 0.97 PPP ranks second overall. Moore's 7.7 jump shots per game are third most in the class, though his 1.0 PPS on them ranks just eighth. He makes a solid 40% of his 3.8 catch and shoot jumpers per game (4th), and 38% of his pull-ups (4th).

There's a case to be made that Moore is one of the most underrated players in this draft class, and his showing in this sampling does nothing to discourage that notion.

Here is some more...
Quote
"Consistency, may be the key to it all though.
"Guys that are that consistent in college for a long run usually wind up being the same way in the NBA. I think when it comes down to it, when you get him into a competitive setting, he's productive and not just scoring the basketball either. He's a winner.
"He beat a lot of guys in college who at the time were considered better. Now he's probably going back into that same boat where people may think he comes up a bit short in some areas, but when it comes down to it, he wins and he produces.”

He's getting better, but he needs to improve vastly. He's shooting 24% overall, and 14% from 3. Not "chosen one" numbers.

When is that quote from because if its recent, I have to question what Danny is seeing?

Edit: Never mind... I see this was from pre-season. Didn't look at the date of the OP.

E'Twuan Moore will have a nice long career in green . . . playing for Joventut Badalona.

So far, Moore has played in 12 of Boston's first 16 games and played over 10 minutes 4 times.

In comparison, last season Avery Bradley only played in 30 games all season and was on the court for over 10 minutes only twice.

He's been nothing special so far, but I can see where they spot the talent.

He's able to get shots off, and he's not afraid to take jumpers. Right now they just arent falling, eventually he'll
run off the regular season jitters and will start hitting. His defense has been so-so, he's been fouling alot, but I think he's had his fair share of "rookie calls" go against him.

Right now though, Avery Bradley is the more confident player.

E'Twaun is a college veteran and is almost two years older than Avery.

Not to mention Bradley was injured at the start of last season.

I don't think Moore's ability or talent, whatever you want to call it, will ever be properly gaged by looking at his box score.

To me, he's a Ryan Gomes type of guy at the OG/PG spot.

1. Very good ball handler and decent passer
2. Good shooter - who will get better once he settles down and who understand very well how to create space to get what is a very good stroke off.
3. Decent defender - long arms, gets his hands on a lot of balls because of his reach.

But the key thing about Moore to me, is his intelligence on the court. The writer above said he consistently beat players considered better than him.

Moore is like a Ryan Gomes, Derek Fisher type of player. He will never wow you with his stats, he will simply go out every night and help you "win" basketball games by doing the right things the majority of the time, all the little things, including being an outstanding teammate and glue guy - a key ingredient that most championship teams have and they aren't always starters. Leon Powe was a glue guy...Posey was a glue guy

That's my perception of the kid and I think we'll see Moore and Moore of it as he matures physically and with experience.

I can easily see him a very long term back up player for the Celtics at both guard positions.

What isn't clear to me yet is whether that back up role will be 2nd string or 3rd string.

And Avery started this season so horrible that Doc was practically forced to give his minutes to Moore.  And Avery has only managed to play 2 1/2 good games so far this year.  And Moore had to deal with a lockout and abbreviated training camp while Avery had a normal post-draft offseason and regular training camp.  And in the last 2 1/2 months of last season, Avery played in just 15 games, never played more than 10 minutes and went 7 for 28 from the field.

One thing he does well is he plays with in him self. Yeah he misses shots, but 90% of them have been good open with in the game shots. He may be in a slump because he was hitting those in the preseason.

He has looked better than Bradley did last year when he came in, so that could be saying some thing.

I don't think he'll be a superstar, but I could see him as a Dooling type point guard.
