Will Jeff Green start at power foward or be the sixth man?

I hope not to the former and hope so to the later. Green isn't a good PF. He is much better at SF.

  • Rondo = Good
as a power foward, jeff's talents are wasted.  he's below average at power forward.

as a sixth man, he's valuable, but we'd be wasting the opportunity to develop him into a long term starter or trade asset.  we need to give him the opportunity to show he can be what he was in OKC and more, especially after his heart issue.

just another reason why keeping pierce here instead of trading him to a contender where he has the opportunity to actually compete for a trophy is not worthwhile.

I don't know but have a strong feeling he will be a key piece in our building block ino the future. I felt that in the offseason this year that he was going to be HUGE it's unfortunate what happend.

Who knows maybe Rondo and Paul are gone but think Jeff stays.

I definitely want Green back, and I also hope we resign Bass (assuming he opts out, which he surely will). I'd like to see Bass and Green start next week, with an eye to the future, but have KG and Pierce back as first reserves at those positions.

I'm not sold on Bass being a starter. I think 6th man is the ideal position for him similar to Jason Terry and Lamar Odom.

Ha! Good job, me. Next year, that is.

I'm not sold that Green can be a starter on a Championship team. I can certainly be convinced, but I'm not sold on it yet. OTOH, he would be a great backup behind Pierce. Yes, I think Paul still "has it" and will still "have it" next year.

Bass is an excellent 6th man backing up the 4. I'm not sold on him as a starter on a contender, either.

Look, the C's need a super-star (or two). If they had *that* player with current Pierce, then Rondo, Green, Bass, any half-way decent center, and the remains of Ray Allen and KG could be a contender. Mix in deep bench players and you've got a strong contender. However, without a super-star walking through that door, I think the C's are going to fall short now...and in the future.

Get the straw that stirs the drink, then worry about filling up the rest of the glass.

Have Green start at the 2. He has the athleticism for it and could overwhelm other 2s on both ends.

Rondo, Green, PP to start. Not a bad 1-2-3.

Bradley (if still here) Ray, Pietrus and Bass (any and all if signed) off the bench. That's a real decent bench.

Our problem is the starting 4/5. Who those people will be is anybody's guess.

Celtics look at Green as a small forward not a power forward. As of right now Boston is going into '12-13 with:

Rondo, Moore
Bradley
Pierce
Johnson

then

Brandon Bass (team option for 4.25 Mill)

That's 35.5 Million assuming Bass's option is picked up.

I think if Ray and KG walk Pierce should continue to start at the SF (assuming a big name isn't signed). Then Green comes off the bench because he'll have not played basketball in a year.

Celtics SHOULD go after a shooting guard in the offseason, if they can't sign one they should look to sign Ray to a one year deal or let him walk.
