While we certainly are getting older and while there certainly is reason for concern given our slow start, I'm surprised how many posters on this board have completely ignored the fact that we've gone through horrid stretches the past two seasons.  And if we could snap out of that, I certainly wouldn't say it's impossible for us to do so now.

I think the more likely metaphor is that a broken clock is still correct twice a day.

I doubt this win means anything, but I'll be thrilled if it does.  I also wouldn't hang my hat on what happens in Orlando on Thursday -- good or bad.  As many have said, let's let the schedule play out for another 10-15 games and then assess.  Without pre-season, I think it will take about half the season before we can be sure whether this team has another run in them.

I do think there is truth to this.

I've always hated the "flip the switch" metaphor.  I just don't think that's quite how it works.

It's extremely nice to see a glimpse of the way this team is capable of playing, though.

I'm sure there'll be plenty of fodder throughout the season for those who would rather see these guys set out to pasture than see them get the chance to continue to attempt to add to their legacy.

If they play as well in Orlando and keep playing well after that for a long stretch of games, then yeah, switch flipped.  Hopefully they enjoyed the taste of victory over a quality opponent and will want to feel that way again.

The haphazard nature of the NBA season has yielded some strange results so I would be very careful about saying that we have "flipped the switch". I think there are some nights you "flip the switch" and you find out that there is a short-circuit in your wiring because your opponent comes in prepared and outplays you. This season is a day by day, 1 game at a time, 1 quarter at a time, even 1 possession at a time proposition. To think otherwise will lead to frustration, dis-illusionment, and cries to blow the pig up. As mentioned in the home page article, there is calls for Danny to be patient and evaluate the facts and data before making draconian personnel changes that could set the franchise back years. Witness what Rick Pitino did 12 years ago. Do we want to go back there?

The Celtics have always had trouble from Christmas through My birthday so the timing was not good for the Celtics historically.
