On the heals of a ridiculously gutsy win I just want to give a shout out to JO!
played a heck of a game against the dominant big man in the league.

I was shocked that Howard wasn't able to use his quickness advantage to beat up on O'Neal more.

Jermaine played a very good game against him.

Not to mention he threw Howard even more off his game when he was about to beat that ass

Not that it showed up in the stat book, but it appeared as if his jump shot was smoother last night. He's developed a real nasty hitch that was absent last night.

JO has always defended the post pretty well.  Not too far off from Perk in that regard.

Also helped that we caught Dwight on a bad game.  In the past he's dominated KG whenever they've been matched up.  Last night he got nothing against him.

JO looked lost in the 1st quarter last night and I was expecting more of the same for the remaining 3 qtrs but he really did turn it around and I have to give him credit for the game he played in the end.

After the first quarter with monster dunks, Howard seemed to just back down in the box and gamble on some hooks and long toss ups. Jo and KG were on point on defense and Howard just started to look like he was losing confidence. No real reason he should go 4-16/17.

Oh and every time he went up for those contested close shots ad missed or was blocked his expressions were priceless  ;D
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I know some might not agree with it but I loved the dust up with Howard, it felt like it was 2008-2010 all over again JO doing his best Perk impersonation. We were in there heads, aggressive, talking and gave hard fouls. It was great.

I think O'Neal's defense gets underestimated because he doesn't have the face of a grizzled trench fighter.  I think his cheeks give him a child-like quality that makes people want to believe he is soft, when he is actually a big man who has the rare combination of being good at both blocking shots and drawing charges.  I pointed out elsewhere that in the last five games they have played against each other before this one, Dwight Howard has averaged 10.4 points and 11.4 rebounds per game.  So, Howard failing to put up monster numbers is not a huge surprise.

I'm sorry but I can't take a post seriously that spells Jermaine's last name that way.

I think part of that was KG prepping to guard him.

In the past we had three other defenders to guard Dwight KG only go their by mistake, last night we clearly planned to have KG check him for some stretches.

Good post, arctic.

With all the AB, Sasha and Marquis love (and not undesreved) on this board after last night, glad someone gave some headline recognition to JO.

Like to see a much maligned player like him get some props. Hopefully, he keeps earning them.

  • It's all about the TEAM!

This was a moment I got fired up while watching the game. It was like something I needed to see. I needed to see the Celtics getting fired up and I think this was the moment that represented that. I knew then we still had some serious fight in us.

I'm still looking for a good picture of JO with his finger pointed in Howard's face. I cannot believe I haven't found one yet.

I'm also very impressed with JO's performance last night. I'll have to admit to having been real critical of his performance so far this season as to call him the weakest link of our starting rotation. Last night JO showed at times he can be a good contributor for us. I still think he has a ways to go, but I was really glad to see him playing some man-ball last night.

For me, his tyrade with Howard was THE moment of the young season so far!

I think JO is defending very well this season, despite his physical problems, this is obvious.
He is causing many fouls of attack.
