And not the good filthy.  I really dislike this guy.  He comes off all smiles and goofy like he is a little kid so lucky to be in the league.  He jokes around.  Very disarming.  Then, you see what he does on the court with the elbows.  Always trying to spread them out with pinpoint intentions.  He pretends not to know the positions of the opposing players that he smashes, but they know better and so does he.  He was pulling it last night and almost had his head knocked off by Jermaine as a result. Anybody else picking up on this?  And watching this guy shoot the ball is like watching a soulless robot that has been camped out near a beach rusting out.  No sir, I don't like him...

he has laker blood coursing through his veins.  He'll fit in perfectly there.

Judging by his offensive fluidity, I would have guessed glue but Laker blood will do..

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I'd happily have him patrolling the TD Garden paint in a green uniform with those elbows and robot-ness.

Read that last line again. One more time.

There was plenty of guilt from both Jermaine and him both prior to that play it was getting pretty chippy.   It was nice to see JO call his bluff.  Howard's response shows him for the coward he is folks.  I got news for you, Dwight.   Superman don't back down when fights come like you did last night.

That being said he is a heck of a player.

He has always been cheap with the elbows, not that I like dwight that much BUT akeem was known to wack many a player with an elbow.
That said I would be fine with Howard being a physical - dirty player if he had perks face.  Don't smile all the time like its no big deal, you want to play like rick mahorn fine but he's trying to use his elbows to his advantage AND get a orbit gum commerical deal at the same time!

I love that he is so physical and borderline dirty. Like KG in his prime. I would take that over being soft any day.

Funny you mention orbit gum since it's the orbital bones he seems to be trying to smash..

DH surely throws elbows around out there, but at least he's not a thug like JO.

That's where we differ.  You say borderline dirty and I say he is outright filthy and tries to hurt people.  KG was just an intense loudmouth who kept flapping his mouth 24-7.  I couldn't stand him either but I never said he was a filth bag.

In my opinion, Dwight has ALWAYS been a dirty player.  Rickretro is exactly correct in writing that Dwight disarms everyone (fans, media, refs) by being all smiles and laughter in front of the cameras, but on the court he is a dirty player who throws elbows, fouls to injure guys, and whines like no one I have ever seen.  He Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.es after every single call or no-call.  I've never seen another player continue to Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. after getting the foul call.

On top of that, he is overrated.  I've written before that if Dwight played during the 1990s, he wouldn't even be a top-5 NBA center: Hakeem, Shaq, Robinson, Ewing, Mourning, and let's not forget about Sabonis, Divac, and Mutombo.  Howard is average, in a historical perspective.  And, in today's league, having a center like Howard is unnecessary.

I don't want Dwight on the Celtics no matter what.  He doesn't exude any of the character of a Boston Celtics player.

I don't remember Kevin Garnett elbowing people in the head, prime or no prime, and that's something that Howard does on a regular basis.

Amazing. If Dwight should end up signing with us, I would expect these same fans to keep calling him a dirty, obscene, coward, etc. etc. etc.

I think it's safe to say that he will not be playing here so we shouldn't have to worry about that perplexing potential problem of perspective...

  • Rondo = Good
To be fair, Dwight gets hacked, slapped, and shoved around on practically every trip up or down the court.  It's the only thing that other teams can do to try and deal with him.  Similar to Shaq, refs tend to swallow their whistles a bit with him because of his physical dominance.

So I can totally understand how Dwight would get frustrated and fight back with some elbows to try to make some space for himself.
