just like I expected when everyone was saying he was done...paul pierce was just horribly out of shape/injured when he came back..

its taken him awhile, but it looks like hes finally got his shot back and is much more spry.

He's definitely back.

Never thought he was done. If there is one Celtic on this current roster I would never give up on, its him.

agree... I never thought he was done.  And it's a [dang] good thing he isn't done.  We can't get trade value back for a washed up Paul Pierce.  This is the kind of play that makes Indiana think hard about giving up Paul George for a couple quality years out of Pierce.

Pierce deserves to retire a celtic....watching Dirk, Kobe, duncan retire with their original teams and not pierce would be a shame...

We don't know that Kobe, Dirk and Duncan will retire with their original teams.

Hakeem, Payton, Jordan and Ewing didn't retire with their original teams and it worked out fine for all involved (except for the suckers that gave up value for the aging Payton, Ewing and Hakeem).

He has looked great for 2 games. He needs to do It for five, six or seven games, I think, before he is officially back.

I'm not sure it was exaggerated. We all know what to expect from from the Captain. Pretty obvious he was out of shape.

The demise of KG is a bigger question.

its not like these types of games are out of the norm for Pierce...he was our leading scorer last year with 18.5ppg

and KG is what he is right now...and its not much different than last year IMO...hes a jumpshooting big man

Just needed a few games to get back into the flow of things after probably not thinking there was going to be a season. He was probably ridiculously out of shape and the timing of his heel injury certainly didnt help things either. Glad to see him getting back in Paul Pierce mode.

Folks, I don't play professional sports but yet, I use the exercise bike, 5 or more times a week, lift dumbbells 3 times per week, and cable row 2 times per week. And on my off days, I basically stretch and do some basic yoga calisthenics.

So I don't understand this being out-of-shape off season nonsense from professional athletes.

PP game never left. Pierce biggest problem is Rondo. When Rondo is on the court Pierce is relegated to being spot up duties, and that is not his game. For Pierce to be effective, He needs the ball in his hands. Rondo can't continue dominating the ball like he does.  We have to do a better job involving Pierce.

Ha wow, as a former athlete (not pro) and personal trainer you are comparing apples and oranges my friend.

You could jog all day every day, lift and do whatever else you would like but game shape for any competitive level sports (forget the highest level) is a completely different beast and encompasses so much more than muscular are cardiovascular endurance.

PP is playing his way into "form" is that easier for you to understand?

The point isn't about Titlemaster vs some other athlete but it's the fact that I have exercise, as a part of my daily habit/routine, and I work ~50 hours behind a desk every week, pushing keyboard. I've decided not to 'let myself go' and look like my pastry-loving depressed friends w/ nagging spouses.

And yes, it does show up when I suddenly help a couple move, one day, and in 3-4 hours, I'm the only person who isn't exhausted that afternoon.

Likewise, as an athlete, I'd be doing off season training like Brazilian Jiujitsu (or Capoeira for differing ranges of motion), Sword Fighting/Archery, Rock climbing, etc, to maintain both my cardiovascular form and hand-eye coordination. Right now, as a wage slave white collar type, I don't have the time to dedicate to those types of pursuit except as a cursory hobby.
