McMillan needs a PG and respects defensive minded players.  I think Portland is done with Oden and despite liking Matthews, he is still a few years away from Pierce caliber.  We already know Paul Allen is into Pierce from a few years back.  G Wallace is still no Pierce.

Trade doesn't work, there would have to be other players moved.

Also it'd be a very bad deal for the Celtics. If you're trading Paul Pierce you need to get a lottery pick or a high level prospect.

Paul Pierce + Avery Bradley = 16.8 million

Greg Oden + Wes Matthews = 7.6 Million

You should actually include Gerald Wallace in your proposed trade then. He is only mentioned in a throw away sentence "Gerald Wallace is no Paul Pierce" and the title of the thread does not include him.

Portland would say no, they can't trade two productive starters for one productive starter.

Bradley and Rondo can not play together,and if Oden can not play anymore, he is a free agent this summer so we have more cap space... who knows, remember Ilgauskas in Cleveland also a lot of injuries
