COACHING!!!

no I'm not talking about Doc Rivers. We all know Doc is a quality coach.

but it is being completely overlooked that the Celtics lost Lawrence Frank this summer to the Pistons. You can't tell me that losing a guy like Frank and not replacing him with a real coach doesn't hurt this team.

Losing Thibs to the Bulls was huge, but at least we replaced him with someone with head coaching experience and a good resume. Instead of replacing Frank, we just moved around a bunch of bum assistants.

The worst part is that a reputable NBA coach in Larry Brown wanted to come fill Frank's spot.

You can't tell me that having Larry Brown on this staff would not benefit us.

Wonder why the Celtics are taking so long to figure out how to rebound and score more than 90 points???

BECAUSE THEY HAVE A BUNCH OF HIGH SCHOOL COACHES RUNNING THEIR PRACTICES....!

I'm surprised they didn't explore that road. If he was willing to do it for cheap then why not hire him over some no name. Of course I'm also surprised that after Allen Iverson expressed that he wanted to come here and didn't mind coming off the bench at all if it meant playing for Boston and Doc, they didn't explore him either.

um maybe because our front-court can no longer leap to grab rebounds and are too slow on the second jump. Rondo is the best rebounder on the team at this point, pretty sad...

Same thing with the jump shot no legs

Unfortunately I somewhat agree with you.  Doc needs to keep his brain trust and his exacting coach staff stocked.  I've never felt too good about his second tier guys.

Larry has always been a primadonna coach, I can't see him taking an assistant job to doc when he was a great coach when doc was still at marquette (or whatever larry might say)
still not sold on frank being that good of a coach anyways

listen to tommy, seal your man on rebound then go for it
1st game i've seen guys keep their man off the boards so rebound comes to celtics

These guys (KG, PP, Ray, Rondo, JO) are veteran players.  They've been coached by great coaches.  Do the REALLY need another guy telling them what to do?  Did they just forget everything they've been taught?

No...  The problem is not coaching...it's called age, declining skills, offseason laziness (to a degree), and maybe a bit of "we'll just show up and run the table" overconfidence.

The new guys?  The younger guys?  There's enough veteran leadership for them to fall into line.  (And it's not like the new guys don't know the system the Celtics play, especially Bass as he's played numerous games against the Celtics and would be very familiar with the system).

That's the problem with being a well-coached team. Other teams look to you and want to replicate your success, and think that a hiring a coach with experience in your system will achieve that.

It is a compliment to be honest. Just look at how many Patriots coordinators have been hired as Head Coaches for other teams.

I agree, losing Thibs and then Frank has definitely weakened our coaching staff.

But, our defense has been fairly consistent... It's our OFFENSE that is offensive.  Who's mostly responsible for that?

That said, the best teams lose their assistant coaches every season and still manage to keep winning.

Larry Brown working under Doc Rivers.
I'll take a pass on that soap opera.

Agreed, the defense is still there. There is just NO scoring in this team right now.
