Would you do it? There would need to be another player from the bulls to make the salaries work but Asik is one of the best defensive centers in the league. I love his athleticism.

I don't think Chicago should do that trade. They don't have Kurt Thomas anymore or any other depth at the five spot. The upgrade on the wing is not worth harming their overall balance and depth (which is exceptional and a big part of what makes them so tough).

Somewhat similar to Orlando parting ways Gortat to get J-Rich. Weakened them.

not really concerned about da Bulls future. They are loaded.  The idea is for the C's to get what we need first ...at least in my mind.

No way, and not in a million years.  Asik is an AVERAGE player.  Ray Allen is our SECOND best player on this roster, and to think there are those who want to hand him over for a guy that's not even in the top 25 at his POSITION is ludicrous to me....

Ray is 37 and we suck, so getting a young center with a lot of skill and toughness for him is great value. Asik would start on many NBA teams right now. Look at Gortat once he left Orlando.

Yeah, let's just trade a valuable trade chip for a below-average center who averages 3.6 ppg and 5.6 rpg and isn't a starter.

You see up-and-coming...  I see mediocrity...

Agree that Chicago wouldn't do it. The bread and butter of Chicago is their interior D and Asik is one of the best help and man to man defenders in the league.

well no matter how you look at it, we're not going to get players like Kevin Love, Rick Rubio, or Rudy Gay for our old, washed up players. We are 5-9 for a reason. It's because our "valuable trade chips" suck right now, and they are too old to convince anyone that they will get better.

Yeah but Chicago sure could use a guy who can bury that 3 when they have to face miami in a 7 game series. They still have an above average big man rotation with Gibson and Noah even if they trade Asik. Even if we dont trade for him, hes a restricted free agent this off season and I think we could lure him away by telling him he will start for us.

He actually fits in perfectly with the Celtics defensive stragety. All that help defense and rotating. Asik is nice.
