How does this happen? Why are they so bad on the boards? It's easy -- too old, no legs, can't jump anymore, will rebound once in awhile and that is it. Garnett is the king now of tipping the ball with one hand and hoping he can eventually get it to go his or a teammate's way.

It also seems they can't shoot anymore. Why? It's easy -- old legs equal less lift equal shots that used to go in don't go in anymore. Also, Ray Allen could run all night and not get open, because the guys they have really are not setting the picks that the guys they used to have set for Ray.

It's because the best rebounder on the team is our starting PG and he was out for the game.

So yes, we're a pathetic rebounding team.

Actually, PHO is not the worst rebounding team in the league.  It's DET, and we're 2nd to last after DET.  PHO is ranked 25th which is bad but still better than us.  Just seeing those loose balls and guys like Gortat, Frye, and Lopez hanging around and I knew it would be bad news for us.

Somebody's gotta win the rebounding battle when two bad rebounding teams go against each other.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Its easy to lose the rebounding battle when you shoot 40% - defensive rebounds are easier to grab.

this kind of thing will happen when you don't have a starting center.

. . . and your starting PF is slow and has no lift.

We were getting routinely outrebounded with Perkins in the lineup.

I think Javale Mcgee would be an outstanding fit on this team.  The guy can rebound, block shots, and is athletic as heck.  As for the maturity problems, I think KG could straighten him up. JO, Avery Bradley, and either 1 or both of the first rounders for Javale.

That's a very good point which highlights something that shouldn't be overlooked in how bad KG, Pierce and JO have looked out there.  This team has always had trouble rebounding and the offense has always been prone to stagnation and falling apart.  That indicates there's something structural in how the defense and offense are run that is making poor rebounding and bad execution more likely.
