  • Rondo = Good
Of the teams the Celtics have beaten, the most wins any of the has is FOUR.  :o
Well, the strength of our schedule is .433, and we're 5-9. I'd understand people who are hoping for playoffs if we were a .500 team under these circumstances... but we're not.

Yeah, make whatever excuses you want, but we've had one of the easiest schedules in the league so far and we're on track for 25 (!) wins.

As another poster astutely pointed out, this team is prone to starting out seasons hot and slowing down as the season goes on.  It may be overly optimistic to think that they'll get a lot better as the season goes on, even given the special circumstances with the lockout.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

I really find it hard to imagine them not making the playoffs, short of a major injury to Rondo.  Right now, he is the only thing this team has to keep them out of the bottom 5 of the league (I think the other guys should improve as they get in shape/realize how to be effective without jumping...but still), but he has been good enough to make them better than the bottom feeders, which will get them into the playoffs in the East.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
just bumping to get some more votes, would like at least 50.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I believe if we stay the course we'll make the playoffs.

We will get destroyed in the early rounds, though... and this is WITHOUT QUESTION our last chance with this group.   So why bother when the writing is on the wall?... Trade Pierce for an expiring contract and lets tank for the future.

Playoffs or no playoffs.   Here's where it stands in about 50 games:

Option 1: No championship and no lottery pick
Option 2: No championship and a lottery pick

If we commit to option 2 RIGHT NOW, we can probably grab a few prospects and additional draft picks by dumping Pierce and Ray.

we WILL make the playoffs, theres no doubt in my mind that we will not make it...

theres still 3-4 month left in the season, we won't be 1st or 2nd sed, probably not even 3rd...

but im confident we can be 5-6th seed...
